Mixeroo

media_1295346427059.png

Eio apps is pleased to introduce Mixeroo for iOS. Already featured by Apple in New and Noteworthy and What’s Hot in Education, Mixeroo is a musical app that gives children control over the instruments in the mix of a song. Developed for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch by indie developer Kirk Wheeler, Mixeroo provides a fun and educational way to explore and experience music by allowing children to hear the individual elements of a song and change the balance between them.

Each instrument is associated with a brightly colored fader that invites them to see what will happen when they take something away or put something back. By giving them a chance to hear the way music is arranged they are able to begin learning musical ideas like rhythm and melody.

The idea for Mixeroo came naturally to Kirk Wheeler who has been a mixer for television and film as well as independent records for over 15 years. First conceived as a way to share his love for music and mixing with his two year old daughter he got to work after seeing the iPad for the first time.

QiblaLocate

media_1295347244964.png

Power App GmbH has announced QiblaLocate 1.0 for iOS, their app that employs the GPS system of any iOS device to locate the qibla, the correct direction to face Mecca. Unaffected by the inaccuracies of magnetic north vs. true north, the app provides superior results. After starting the app, the user simply gives permission to use their current position as the basis for calculation, and the app immediately displays a large green arrow, a world map, and the exact distance and bearing to Mecca. For the 1.5 billion followers of Islam worldwide, the app provides a convenient solution to a question that arises several times daily.

Moslems are not facing the city of Mecca when they pray, but rather the revered Kaaba, the central shrine in Mecca’s Great Mosque. Although the surface of a globe permits facing in more than one direction to reach another point, only the great circle route, the shortest distance, is considered the qibla. QiblaLocate employs the satellite-based, GLobal Positioning System to accurately determine the user’s present position, and the precise direction or qibla.

Zigyt

media_1295347534353.png

Fitness experts have noted that agility training can be more effective if the athlete has to respond to varying directional commands as it takes away the athlete’s ability to anticipate the next move. This is precisely what Zigyt does and so more closely mimics a real competitive situation than does executing static agility exercises.

While proper bio-mechanics of drill execution are taught by coaches, trainers and instructors, Zigyt provides a very inexpensive way for the athlete or fitness enthusiast to train on their own, any time and in a variety of settings.

Zigyt features over 20 agility drills grouped by type and degree of difficulty. Drills are also listed by the sport that they can apply to which include (but are not limited to) Tennis, Soccer, Baseball, Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Squash and Hockey. Also included are drills specific to Tennis and Squash.

In Atlantis Invaders, the underwater city of Atlantis is under aerial attack by the deadly Gordon fleet. It’s your job to save the day by manning three, fixed defense turrets in a bid to knock the enemy fighters out of the sky before they can lay waste to your city with their horrible deathray.

"We tried to make the exact clone of this fantastic game with its marvellous atmosphere in every possible aspects of the original game (sounds, graphics, gameplay, scoring, etc.) and added few touches here and there, like adding OpenFeint for online scores," said Mojtaba Rajabi, Game Developer. "We took pictures of the original game and placed all parts of the city with the highest possible accuracy, we also recorded videos of the original game using Atari 2600 emulators to calculate the speed changes of enemies and missiles one by one and used the results in the game. We also thought about adding features like combos, more enemies, etc. but we realized that they’ll change the original feel of the game and its fantastic gameplay atmosphere, so we changed our minds and tried to make a perfect clone instead."
