media_1306845061852.png

Stepcase, is pleased to announce the release of Fusioncam 1.0.1 on May 31st, a dynamic, easy to use classic toy camera with multiple exposure capabilities. Just like a real toy camera, multiple exposures are possible when you don’t wind the film.

You can use the camera in the classical single shot with 3 different modes. If you’re feeling creative, try re-exposing that shot. It’s easy to re-expose, by flicking a switch, the previous photo is overlayed in the viewfinder so that it is simple to measure up the next shot.

Using Fusioncam makes it easy to create distinguished and artistic photos because of the technology used to blend the photos with the toy camera effects. With the flick of a switch you can open up the camera to see the film roll with all your photos where you can develop or share the photo using Steply.

With the Task Configuration dialog, for instance, it is possible to match the child’s knowledge by setting appropriate skill level. iNanotube

media_1306845634303.png

Independent developer Peter Burke today is pleased to announce iNanotube 1.1 for iOS, his new Education app that graphically instructs users about the detailed atomic structure of carbon nanotubes, a revolutionary class of wires only a few atoms across. Advanced 3D rendering algorithms provide detailed, animated renderings of the design and construction of carbon nanotubes, demonstrating and teaching the fundamentals of the atomic properties of these tiny wires. Users can generate, manipulate, and even sort virtual carbon nanotubes in a user friendly, visual format. An included tutorial explains in simple terms the importance of the detailed 3D structure for practical applications. Burke is also a professor of nanotechnology at the University of California, Irvine.

iNanotube allows users to design and create a carbon nanotube (an atomic scale wire) employing the app’s simple user interface. Construction and manipulation of these tiny wires is easily achieved through the touch screen interface, which allows rolling of a sheet of graphene (a one-atom thin sheet of carbon atoms, whose discovery earned the Nobel Prize in 2010) into the form of a tube: a carbon nanotube. The app provides direct virtual interaction with the tiny structures, the strongest and stiffest materials yet discovered, which are too small to be seen with even the world’s most powerful microscopes.

"The use of virtual representations of atoms in smartphone and tablet media is a revolutionary way to interact with and understand the structure and size of atomic scale structures in a simple way," said Burke. He envisions additional, game changing uses of the media for future design of atom-by-atom constructions of many nanotechnology objects such as graphene and other materials, a long-term goal of nanotechnology research around the globe.

The game is appropriate for all ages. Ice Tales is a great value on the App Store at US $.99 for the iPhone/iPod version and US $1.99 for the iPad version. A lite version is available for free.

"Sometimes you want an alternative to a casual game just for a little variety," says Brian Chen, product manager and Widget Revolt co-founder. "Unlike some of the other retro concepts that have been released, we wanted to create a title that harkened back to the excitement of the classic arcade games in a way that is appropriate for a modern mobile platform. This game plays in a way that won’t frustrate players. With cartoonish graphics, original 8-bit compositions and responsive controls that suit the platform, we think Ice Tales has redefined retro games for iOS in a unique way."

With four exciting chapters filed with increasingly more complicated mazes and dozens of achievements, Ice Tales challenges players to clear mazes by collecting starfish, baskets of fish and other goodies. Along the way you must conquer giant crabs, evil seals, hungry squid, angry sea birds, moon walking polar bears and the queen herself to save the day and rescue your friends. With full Game Center integration, all chapters can be replayed to earn bigger bonuses and achievements while increasing your score and challenging your friends. With multiple difficulty settings, the game can adapt to the player, with challenges for both younger players and experienced players alike.

Beer Timer

media_1306846358588.png

Developed for anyone who has ever thought it was a good idea to put a beer in the freezer to cool it down, and then forgotten about it, Beer Timer alerts iPhone and iPad users their beer is in the freezer and ready to drink.

"Our goal was to stop people from exploding forgotten beer in their freezer," said Craig VanderZwaag, Beer Timer’s developer. "We built the app to alarm not only before the beer freezes, but also to alarm at the temperature each beer type is supposed to be consumed."

Beer Timer takes into consideration the size of the beer, the container and the type. "We spent quite a bit of time testing, and tasting" said VanderZwaag. "Once we got some data about how quickly each beer cools from room temperature to it’s optimum drinking temperature, we were able to determine exactly how long a beer should be in the freezer."
