A Day In The Life Of Thérèse Cherton – An Incredibly Talented And Versatile iPhone Artist

Welcome to our very exciting column on theappwhisperer.com. This section entitled ‘A day in the life of …’ and this is where we take a look at some hugely influential, interesting and accomplished individuals in the mobile photography world. People that we think you will love to learn more about.

This is our seventy fourth installment of the series, if you have missed our previous interviews, please go here. Thérèse lives in Brussels and studied graphic arts, typography and photo manipulation techniques in the darkroom and “photo engraving”. The arrival of the Mac as a primary tool for photogravure madeher convert her existing techniques and Photoshop. As this was not an easy job and she had a family and children, Thérèse decided to redirect her channels to a calmer workload and at present she works in the “job search” industry.

Around 2010 she discovered the iPhone and Hipstamatic. She was so delighted and amazed with all the tools in one small device and straight away she began to learn how to use the various applications and see the opportunities. She says, she is still learning and in total amazement at the technology.

Currently Thérèse is more active on Facebook and has begun to post images into various groups including WiiAM. Two of her images were selected for the “IPhoneography FIRST EXHIBITION – iPHONE PHOTO SHOW NAPLES ITALY”. In May 2012 Participation in “International Exhibition” in Porto. Several participations in projects of Giancarlo Beltrame, per example, The Divine Comedy of Dante and also on November 17 during the day against violence against women SVAW http://vimeo.com/53776928

Thérèse was also a co-organizer of the exhibition in Brussels, Biiam-Belgitude in September 2012 with Sean Hayes and Robert Buckley.

Translation

«FIRST iPHONEOGRAPHY EXHIBITION – iPHONE PHOTO SHOW NAPLES ITALY»

Joanne – Let’s start at the beginning of the day, how does your day start?

Thérèse – After a good breakfast, departure to the office. I still have my iPhone in my pocket and if the light is good I take pictures or i work with those than I judge unfinished. I take the public transportation which leaves me time to work.

Joanne – Do you like to head out and take photographs early on?

Thérèse – It depends on the images I have in stock. If I think they are all finished or if I have new projects so I’m going to hunt the image.

Photographer vs Mobile Photographer/Photographe Photographe vs mobile

Joanne – How did the transition from traditional photographer to mobile photographer develop? (pardon the pun).

Thérèse – I’ve never really been a photographer, I was reprographe. During my studies in graphic arts I learned all photographic processes of the shooting, development and enlargement, but what interested me was the “reprographing”. Work on the “bancs de reproduction”, large bellows camera, scanner images to remove the 4 films database for print. The handling films with caches and caches contraindications to make arrangements. Early in my career I had the opportunity to learn a trade forgotten today. This was before the photo manipulation with Photoshop. I remember, for a magazine cover I rejuvenated the announcer at least 10 years and without a computer. Just hiding parts and exposing others.
