Dragon Dictate for Mac allows people to save time and to be more productive at school, work, home, or on the go with dictation speeds up to three times faster than typing, with words appearing on the screen as you speak them.  As a pure 64-bit application, Dragon Dictate for Mac, version 4, now enables higher performance and improved memory management capabilities over previous versions.  In addition, Dragon Dictate for Mac lets you control your Gmail inbox within the Safari or Firefox browser with a few simple voice commands.  Dragon Dictate provides Full Text Control in Gmail, so you can mix your talking and typing and still be able to edit, correct and format your text using voice commands.  Dragon Dictate also supports Full Text Control in Apple Pages 4.3 – simply by using one’s voice.

Dragon Dictate for Mac also now includes powerful features from Nuance MacSpeech Scribe – creating a single voice offering that can not only transcribe your own voice, but can transcribe text from pre-recorded, single-speaker audio files in many different formats, such as .mp3, .mp4 and .wav.  This new transcription capability is fast, accurate and easy and is ideal for writers, students, educators, field workers, business executives or any user who needs to access content from a single speaker’s voice such as a podcast or other distinct audio formats.  For instance, teaching assistants and students can record lectures at close range and turn them into text, and field workers can now transcribe recordings of their interviews directly from their digital recorder or smartphone.

Dragon Dictate for Mac creates a personalised voice experience for the Mac with the ability to create customised vocabularies that recognise the words, phrases and names people use the most.  Users can also create their own voice commands to automate common tasks.  With Smart Format Rules, which detect and store user-specific formatting of dates, numbers, titles and other text, Dragon Dictate remembers corrections and adapts to an individual’s formatting preferences, getting more intelligent and accurate every time it is used.

“We’ve invested even more in the latest version of Dragon Dictate for Mac to make it the fastest and most accurate voice recognition experience for Mac yet – including customisation and personalisation capabilities that adapt to any customer’s unique way of working,” said Neil Grant, Regional Sales Director at Nuance.  “Combined with powerful transcription features, Dragon Dictate now offers the most complete voice experience on the Mac today.”

I have been familiar with Dragon Dictate since one of the first (very pricey) versions about 15 years ago. Would LOVE to have a version for my Mac!

I love The App Whisperer for reading my mind! I was just looking at Dragon Dictate yesterday because of some guided meditations that I recently recorded for a writing-coaching client and need to transcribe. So this could be incredibly timely!! Of course, The App Whisperer is great even when you guys are not reading my mind — for reviews, info about new apps and tutorials. Keep up the great work!!

I also have dyslexia but mild compared to many. Spell check has saved me many times. If I spell something incorrectly in the USA I say that is how we spell it in England.. And when I am back home in th UK I say that is how we spell it in the USA!!! I bought dragon years ago but it could not understand my accent… Siri still doesn’t. Does this new software do better with different accents?

What’s not to love about about theappwhisperer.com?

It is hard to say which kind of post grabs my attention most. Interviews and tutorials are something I just cannot skip. We live in a beautiful world so long as you know how to observe and see from particular perspectives. Without TAW, I could have imagined that my iPhone can bring out such amazing photos. And the best part is that I can shoot some good stuff myself and show off to friends. 😀

And you get amazing giveaways! Can’t deny, gotta be honest.

If I can get a copy, I guess I can show this to my boss and spare me hours of dictating his long phone calls. 😉
