APPart – Mobile Art – Pantone Color of the Day – ‘Peach Bloom’ – TheAppWhisperer

Share

Many of you have already seen our new segment to our APPart column here at TheAppWhisperer, edited by Bobbi McMurry.

We would like to inspire all mobile artists to create one image a day using the selected colour of Pantone’s ‘Color of the Day’ – see here (we will announce the colour each day). As well a ‘Color of the Day’, Pantone also link that colour with adjectives and/or nouns.

For your information Pantone’s ‘Color of the Day’ was originally created by renowned astrologer Michele Bernhardt – you can read more about her here.

Today’s Pantone color of the day is ‘Peach Bloom’ (15-1327) and the accompanying descriptives are ‘Determined, Dynamic and Astute’. So, we would like to see your creations using this colour in combination with those words, if possible. It’s a challenge after all!

Once you have created your image, please post it to Instagram with the following hashtag #taw_appart_coloroftheday (please don’t forget the underscores). We will view each uploaded image a day and select a winning creation and this will be published to our main website here as well as being featured throughout our vast social media channels.

Mobile Photography and Art – Flickr Group Showcase – 30 August 2015 – TheAppWhisperer

Share

Wow! This weeks’ mobile photography and art Flickr Group Showcase is incredible. Following my curation and creation of the showcase, I watched it several times. It reminded me of a letter by Fancesca Woodman to Giuseppe Gallo in 1980. Woodman was recovering from prolonged sickness and she read ‘the complete works of Proust’ which thoroughly inspired her. She said “I’d really like to create a work of art like that, rooted in and linked to everyday life, but addressing questions of great scope”. This beautiful showcase offers immense scope.

I hope you all enjoy this as much as I do.

If you would like to be considered for our weekly Flickr Group Showcase, please upload your images to our dedicated Flickr group, for this section, here

Many congratulations to the following artists for being featured this week:

The Pogo Art Contest has been running since 2009, it’s free to enter and there are some great prizes. The Judges include the very talented and creative mobile artists that we know and love, Susan Murtaugh and Deborah McMillion and also in addition Brian Miller – founder of Hi-Fi Color Design.

The rules are simple, create your artwork using a Pogo stylus and upload to the link here.

Mobile Photography – Saturday Poetry – ‘Dream Song 100’ by John Berryman

Share

I am introducing a new section, simply titled, Saturday Poetry. Each Saturday I will publish a poem and I will also try to link a mobile photography image, that has been uploaded to our Instagram hashtag #theappwhisperer during the week.

Today, I am publising “Dream Song 100″ by John Berryman, he would have been 101 this year, had he lived. One of the things most people know about him is that he did not. He killed himself at 57 – after a lifetime of chaos, alcoholism, mental illness and extremely hard work.  Have you watched someone dying from alcoholism? I can’t express how hard it is...

Berryman’s only novel was about an alcoholic drying out. It was called Recovery, and it wasn’t finished because he didn’t. On 7 January 1977 Berryman walked along the outside of the covered Washington Avenue Bridge in Minneapolis, climbed on the railing, leaned out and let go. Some accounts had it that he made a gesture something like waving goodbye.

I have matched @trishg61 – Patricia Geyer’s image “Silence of the Lambs…” with this poem. You can follow her on Instagram here and you can learn more about her work here.
