Mobile Photography & Art – Flickr Group Showcase – 29 April 2018

It has been said (‘Teenagers: A Natural History’: David Bainbridge, 2010) that teenage years are to develop the brain and as such they are the greatest achievement of evolution – the point where all that is special about our species comes into play. For parents of teenagers, it’s our job to look after them while they are incubating their extraordinary craniums. “Adolescence is the reason we live so long, long, long,” says Bainbridge. “Human longevity has evolved because we need to bring up our intensely supported, slowly developing offspring.” And that’s of course intensely important, being a parent at this stage is a constant negotiation between keeping them safe and letting them go. It’s about balance as in life as in art. We all need to trust, It’s fierce trust, it demands you put forth your work, without knowing an outcome because fierce trust knows that the outcome does not matter, it cannot matter. Keep sharing your work, each one of you reading this was born to create. Ask yourself, how fierce is your trust in that love? Keep creating, keep viewing, it’s our labour of love.

Thank you to all artists for submitting your works. If you would like your work to be considered for entry in to our weekly Mobile Photography and Art Flickr Group, please submit it to our dedicated group, here.

Thank you so very much for selecting my work in this week’s featured images! It’s truly an honor, especially the shot you chose. It was a very special day that I captured Rose Petals on the Shore. We were celebrating the birthday of a dear friend we lost to suicide and these petals fell from the roses his wife was tossing out to sea in his memory. It makes my heart happy to see this particular image reach others. ❤️
