Joanne Carter Lecture on Mobile Imagery at DigiFun Art Festival 2015 – Seoul Museum of Art – Part 5

I hope you’re all following the posts relating to my lecture at the Seoul Museum of Art, South Korea on 23 September 2015.  If you have missed any, please go here. It was a huge honour for me to be invited by DigiFun Art to participate in the DigiFun Art: Urban Scape Mobile Photography & Art Exhibition and Festival at this most prestigious museum.

I divided my two hour+ lecture into sections and I will now run through my fifth group of slides/my notes that I made in Part 5. In this section, as I knew that image collusions are very popular in the Far East, I wanted to explain our wonderful section Artistic Anarchy: Mobile Collusions Column, edited by Jaime Glasser. I created a video of images selected by Glasser to show the audience and have published that below.  Congratulations to the following artists for being featured:  Kerryn Benbow, Karina Wollina, Mark Schnidman, Sonja Kautzman, Carolyn Hall Young, Edith Meier, Julio Pelaez, Becka Schiller, Laboridomi Latorre, Fiona Christian, Anthony Ozorai, Manuela Ballasadero, Sukru Mehmet Omur, Elaine Taylor, Christina Rankin, Cecily Batey Caceu, Andrew Lucchesi, Kim Martino Diaz, Garry Ryon, Marguerite Koury, Michelle Mott, Dieter Gabel, Chad Rankin, Gretchen Bickert, Aldo  Pacheco, Claude Labarussiat, Jo Sullivan, Riva Ax Riise, Jane Fiala, Vivi Hanson Sacerdote, Lisa Peters, Benamon Tame, Tina Rice, Barbara Nebel, Violet Martins, Kate Zari Roberts, Pam Blackstone, David Hayes, Diana Nicholette Jeon, Allyson Marie, Isabella Matthews, Armineh Hovanesian.

Please note, that these are my notes to prompt not only myselfW but also my really  wonderful English/Korean translator Carol Seungjoo Park – I expanded upon these points within my lecture.

Artistic Anarchy: Mobile Art Collusion – Third Video Showcase

Share

Welcome to the Artistic Anarchy: Mobile Collusion An The AppWhisperer Group’s August 2015 Showcase. This month we had 32 artists participate worldwide and over 90 beautiful collusions resulting! The theme this month was “Ethereal” and our Showcase was made with the help of our esteemed Guest Curator Vivi Sacerdote. Thank you Veevs for completing such a difficult job! I am struck this month by the variety and breadth of the collusions made. The styles, genres, mood, and effects are as varied and creative as our amazing global community of artists. As they are paired randomly each month, each has the opportunity to begin with the original vision of their partner and interpret the image first captured by another with their own mind’s eye. It is clear from speaking with many of the artists that there is a great sense of reverence and privilege to share in this creative process. We are forging an interconnected sense of community, though virtual, that ties us to each other world wide. I want to share just a few examples from our showcase this month to illustrate the diversity of the original images as well as the unique reinterpretation by the paired artists.

All work must be shot and edited come rely on a mobile device. Pairings and communication all go through our Facebook Group :

The images are posted on both Facebook as well as well as on our Flickr group to be considered to be included in the showcase.

Artistic Anarchy: Mobile Art Collusion – Second Video Showcase

I am again thrilled to present the second monthly showcase of the best of the Artistic Anarchy:Mobile Collusion: An TheAppWhisperer Group. We were so fortunate to have Gianluca Ricoveri as our esteemed Guest Curator for “Change” June 2015. With almost 70 artistic pairs randomly assigned it was our busiest month yet! The stunning art produced is a testament to the respect and care that each artist approaches the privilege of editing another’s images. Many have commented on what a privilege it is to work with someone they may know of but have never “met”. It is also quite delightful to see another interpretation of our own work! We opt in by the first of the month to be randomly paired for the month. Each pair of artists exchange full resolution images and edit each other’s images! This is a fun and exciting way to spark your creativity as well as have your partner’s take on your own work!

All work must be shot and edited come rely on a mobile device. Pairings and communication all go thru our Facebook Group :

Jaime Glasser Joins TheAppWhisperer as a New Columnist

Share

We are delighted to welcome Jaime Glasser as a new Columnist to TheAppWhisperer. Glasser has recently returned to the art world after a career as a Veterinarian and a Research Scientist. She attended the Glassell School of Art at the Museum of Fine Art in Houston, Texas. She was a watercolor artist before devoting her career to animals and writing on Animal Hospice. Glasser has joined TheAppWhisperer to host a collaboratory mobile photography group and associated Column called Artistic Anarchy: Mobile Collusions.

Artistic Anarchy: Mobile Collusions will be written by Jaime Glasser and edited by Joanne Carter to accompany the Artistic Anarchy: Mobile Collusions Facebook Group – see here.  We have also created a Flickr Group for you to share your images, so we can curate from here and create showcases to present within the column. Here is the link to this Flickr Group.

Artistic Anarchy: Mobile Collusions is a collaboratory Mobile Photography and Digital Art group; each month we will randomly assign partners who exchange images and re-interpret each other’s vision through mobile Apps. Some of the best Mobile Photographers and Artists in the world are participating. We welcome your participation and look forward to seeing the incredible art that is being made. It is a wonderful experience to interpret an image in a whole different aesthetic than the artist that captured it. It is a great opportunity to get to know another artist and share in creating art with each other’s images. One of the intriguing reasons to participate is to experience having your image interpreted with an alien and surprising sensibility!

In this exciting new Column we will share experiences from participating in this group. We will have interviews with pairs of participants and get a feeling for their experiences and thoughts as they shared their images and edited each other’s art. We will have tips and comments on this collaborative process and highlight some of the images made and describe the work flow. We will also love to have your input and address any questions about the collaborative process. This is a collaborative community: Input, questions, suggestions and ideas to improve our experiences here are encouraged and appreciated!

TheAppWhisperer is growing at a phenomenal rate and trying to include as much unique content and variety from the mobile photography world as our readers can possibly digest, you really don’t need to go anywhere else!

Please join us in welcoming Jaime to TheAppWhisperer family, welcome Jaime…
