Well, if you’re like me, you’re desperately waiting to upgrade your iPhone to the latest and greatest iPhone 8 and fortunately we do not have too long to wait. So much like our recent post going in greater depth with the RED Hydrogen One smartphone with Marques Brownlee (if you missed that, please go here), we’re calling up Brownlee again to run through all the juicy iPhone 8 rumours, right here, right now. Take a look…
You may have heard that RED, the ultra high end camera manufacturer has stepped into Smartphone territory and announced a premium smartphone called Hydrogen One, with ‘holographic display’. Designed to work on the Android platform with a 5.7 inch display apparently will ‘seamlessly switch between traditional 2D content and holographic multi-view 3D content, as well as interactive games’.
Preorders are already filling up for the $1,195 aluminium version and the $1,595 titanium model on RED’s website, with shipping expected to be early 2018.
It’s interesting… I am a huge fan of RED gear and having visited Google’s HQ in London a few times, I know they’re packed into their YouTube studios.

The New York office of VSCO was opened last year to much fanfare, sadly for the company they have now had to close it and the staff have lost their jobs. According to the report in Techcrunch, some New York staff were offered opportunties to relocate to offices in Denver or Oakland locations.
VSCO redesigned their mobile applications last summer but the mobile photography community did not receive these updates favourably and their App Store ratings sunk. A further update was released in November last year, addressing some of the user complaints but perhaps that was not enough to save their New York office.
We will keep you informed of further progress in relation to this story.
A report at Nikkei Asian Review a reliable source, states that Apple are preparing to launch three iPhone models next year. This will coincide with the 10th year anniversary of the device. Sales of the iPhone are down for the fiscal fourth quarter and to add further woe, Apple ended the fiscal year with its first decline in revenue since 2001.
"Apple has tentatively decided that all the 5.5-inch, 5-inch and 4.7-inch models will have glass backs, departing from metal casings adopted by current iPhones, and Biel and Lens are likely to be providing all the glass backs for the new iPhones next year," the source said. "The new iPhone 8 range is now expected to also bear glass covers supplied by Biel and Lens. The glass front and back will be held together by a metal frame".
The rumour mill is in full swing as it tends to be around this time of the year regarding Apple products. The latest rumour circulating is that Apple will announce the new iPad Air 2 at a Press Conference on 16 October 2014, it’s possible that this is not the correct date and it could be October 21, 2014 instead. That means invitations to the event should go out this week, so we’ll hear more for sure later on. If the new iPad Air is announced in October then the chances are the availability will be in November.
What can we expect inside this new device? Well rumours include an Apple A8 processor, 2GB of RAM and an 8MP rear camera. The dimensions will possibly remain the same with resolution of 2048 x 1536, the same as the current model but the screen could come with an ‘anti reflection coating’ according to some sources. Also there is some talk of the new iPad Air being as much as 0.5 mm thinner than the current model.
We’ll bring you more news on this as we hear…
