Impossible Universal Lab for Mobile Photography at The Photography Show 2015 with TheAppWhisperer

Share

One of the many fabulous things I did within our seminars at The Photography Show this year was demonstrate the brand new Impossible Instant Lab Universal. In fact, as Impossible were at the show, I asked one of their wonderful staff members and friend Alex, to help me to demonstrate their new product – and it went down a storm!

Unlike the previous version of the Instant lab, this model now works with more varieties of smartphone device. Essentially, Impossible have created a new adaptor that you position your mobile device within, for processing. It is possible to purchase this adaptor separately and to adapt your existing lab, if you have one.

I am very excited about the Instant Lab and always talk with great excitement about it, whenever possible. So much so, that I was talking with Alex about a wonderful photographer that I had interviewed for Vogue, Paulina and her recent Gallery Show in London, using the lab as her main processor and printer for the event. Fortunately, Alex knew all about this, and produced a really fabulous large display of images of Paulina that they had on their stand at The Photography Show. Alex brought this up to our stage as well and I was able to show the audience the depth to what can be achieved – what an experience!

If you are interested in purchasing the Universal Lab, adaptor or new film, please go here.

TheAppWhisperer at The Photography Show 2015 – Seduced by Jackery – Portable Battery Chargers

Share

Well, you know, I had such a fabulous time at The Photography Show 2015, hopefully you’ve read about my seminars, if not, I have a special section for you to indulge yourselves, here. One thing I haven’t mentioned yet though, is the fun I had with the mobile photography hardware that I was sent and demonstrated on stage.

A common question we’re asked here at TheAppWhisperer.com is ‘what’s the best portable battery charger for my mobile phone/device?’.  We have looked at a lot and we are currently being seduced by Jackery’s gorgeous devices.  Their slogan ’empowering life on the go’ is an important one, not least when it comes to mobile photography and art, we’re all so dependant on portable power.

I was sent three devices to demonstrate, the Giant+, the Bar and the Mini. I will detail more information about them below.

Jackery HQ are a very communicative and generous company we will be detailing a reader giveaway tomorrow and following that up with a discount code for all of our readers too, so hold tight before purchasing. Make sure you check back tomorrow for more details.

I am delighted to publish The Photography Show 2015 Flickr Group Showcase that I presented this week on stage at show – 24 March 2015. The impact it made on the audience is one I will always remember, they were totally mesmerised by your art and the accompanying music. The duration of this showcase is 9 minutes, during the time it played, the larger the audience became with more and more people beating a path to see what we were displaying and then staying, transfixed.

Thank you all who contributed to this specially set up group for the show. Many of these images were created new for the presentation and have not been shown elsewhere. It was incredibly unique content, demonstrating the staggering talent within the mobile photography and art community.

Joanne Carter – TheAppWhisperer Speaks at The Photography Show 2015 – Seminar 2

Yesterday I published details of my first talk at The Photography Show 2015, if you missed that (and it was in two parts, please go here and here).  Today, I am publishing details of the Second Talk on Day 1.  In Talk 2 I wanted to inform the audience of some of the main genres of mobile photography and the specific columns on TheAppWhisperer.com we have, to entice our readers.

During the preparation for the Show I contacted MaryJane Sarvis (who edits our mobile macro column), Bobbi McMurry (who edits our APPart column), Jennifer Bracewell (who edits our portraiture column) and Cara Gallardo Weil with Gina Costa (who edit our StreetsAhead column) if they could create a video explaining more about how their Columns integrate within TheAppWhisperer and to also, most importantly, pick out specific artists work of merit.

All of our columnists created absolutely fabulous videos, doing exactly as I had asked and adding their own unique individuality to each video. I have embedded each video below from Talk 2, before I played each one, I introduced the Columnist and explained a little more about the relevant Column. Each video played out on stage on a flat screen display, the audio was loud and all made a huge impact. Each member of the audience was in awe, the audience grew and grew with more people gathering as we continued within our time schedule.

This is the order the videos were played at The Photography Show 2015…

Joanne Carter – TheAppWhisperer Speaks at The Photography Show 2015 – Seminar 1 – SECOND Part – Case Studies

Share

I have just published the first part of Seminar 1 of my talks at The Photography Show 2015 – if you missed that, please go here.  In the second part of Seminar 1 I focused on two case studies that I had created. I wanted to try to demonstrate to the audience the diversity of mobile photographers and artists of the world. I wanted to demonstrate the distinction of skills and also the motivation behind these artists, some are formally trained, some use mobile photography as a form of therapy. There’s a huge assortment but with one common denominator, the love of mobile photography and mobile art.

My first case study was of Armineh Hovanesian, she is very talented and has had a broad range of life experiences and these shine through in her imagery. My second case study was of Roger Guetta, a more formally trained artist and Professor of Theatre at Vanier College in Montreal, Quebec in Ontario.  Below you will see the scripts I had prepared for each and I expanded verbally on these to the audience. I also created a video showcase of a selection of their works and I played each one on stage at the Show.  I have attached these below for you to view.
