Mobile Art – APPart – Eighth Flickr Group Showcase – TheAppWhisperer

Share

I am delighted to publish our very latest APPart Mobile Art Flickr Group Showcase. Curated by our editor Bobbi McMurry and produced by myself. Over to Bobbi…(foreword by Joanne Carter).

“It’s hard to believe we are already to the last AppArt showcase of 2015.  I’ve enjoyed being part of this amazing group of artists, it’s been a year of wonderful creativity and growth for so many.  Our exposure to each other’s art and commentary serve as a window to the people behind the art, so while many of us are “friends” only on social media, we likely know more about each other than some of our friends in the “real world”. Thank you for giving so much of yourselves, your creativity, and your time; let’s make 2016 bigger and better!

Ever noticed that sometimes the most brilliant solutions are those that are so simple and seemingly evident that we can’t believe it wasn’t thought of before. The first examples that come to my mind are the plastic ketchup bottle, and wheeled suitcase. “Paradise Lost” is an image that exemplifies the concept of successfully approaching a solution in the simplest way. Created by thelcf666, he’s combined the forbidden fruit with the notorious Serpent who successfully tempted Eve all those years ago. The Serpent’s mouth open wide, fangs revealed as if ready to strike contrasted by the soft palette and gentle nature of hand holding it. This is clearly not Eve’s hand, as it is most definitely that of a man. There is no evident wound, but blood is dripping off the hand from below the apple rather than coming off the fangs. It seems that what we are looking at is Adam’s choice, he’s been handed the ill-fated fruit so obviously evil, but takes a bite all the same. Some say that Eve is to blame for all mankind’s woes, but this image seems to suggest otherwise. Here, Adam also was tempted, that while Eve presented the fruit to Adam, he too was susceptible to a temptation he was unable to resist. The original paradise was lost as a result of poor decision making and lack of willpower by both Adam and Eve”.

Huge congratulations to all of this Showcases featured APPartists:  Mariette Schrijver, Andrea Koerner, Kristie, Kate Zari Roberts, Ile Mont, Patricia Januszkiewicz, Brett Chenoweth, Mandolina Moon, Armineh Hovanesian, Aldo Pacheco, nlmcc, Gary Ryon, Michelle Robinson, Claude Panneton, Barb Nebel, Karen Axelrad, Kirsten Fenton, Diana Nicholette Jeon, Carolyn Hall Young, momurum, Meri Walker, Eliza Badoiu, thelcf666, Giulia Baita, Candice Railton, Poetic Medium, BlemishedEye, Louise Whiting, Lorenka Campos, Allyson Marie, Pat Brown.

APPart Mini #3 Featuring Mobile Artist Aldo Pacheco / Sprawling The Fingers On City

Share

Please enjoy our third post to our new section within our APPart Column entitled – APPart Mini. This time our editor Bobbi McMurry talks with Aldo Pacheco to find out more about his work, over to you Bobbi. (Foreword by Joanne Carter).

Apps: Diana, Superimpose, Formulas, Retouch

“This piece had my full attention the moment I saw it! Aldo did such an expert job here creating a story that is both simple and complex. The background comprised of a muted photo of the Guggenheim Museum in New York. He has strategically placed a very bold image of the back of a child poised as if drawing on a wall. It’s always amazing to me how strong a figure can speak when shot from the back  done well, it’s instantaneously captivating. Aldo then very strategically paced a childlike drawing front and center, which could seem random if it weren’t such a calculated and integral part of the story. It’s the brightest element in the piece, with a drop shadow under the cloud forms pushing it further into the viewer’s eyes.

As a parent, I look at this piece as a comment on the importance of cultivating creativity in our children. They may or may not grow to have their work exhibited in the likes of the Guggenheim Museum, but no matter, creativity will help them in anything and everything they do.

Aldo was very generous in sharing his process and apps used in creating this fabulous image, enjoy!”

Artistic Anarchy: Mobile Art Collusion – Second Video Showcase

Share

I am again thrilled to present the second monthly showcase of the best of the Artistic Anarchy:Mobile Collusion: An TheAppWhisperer Group. We were so fortunate to have Gianluca Ricoveri as our esteemed Guest Curator for “Change” June 2015. With almost 70 artistic pairs randomly assigned it was our busiest month yet! The stunning art produced is a testament to the respect and care that each artist approaches the privilege of editing another’s images. Many have commented on what a privilege it is to work with someone they may know of but have never “met”. It is also quite delightful to see another interpretation of our own work! We opt in by the first of the month to be randomly paired for the month. Each pair of artists exchange full resolution images and edit each other’s images! This is a fun and exciting way to spark your creativity as well as have your partner’s take on your own work!

All work must be shot and edited come rely on a mobile device. Pairings and communication all go thru our Facebook Group :

Facebook

The images are posted on both Facebook as well as well as on our Flickr group to be considered to be included in the showcase.

Flickr

Gianluca remarked how difficult it was to pick the best out of the images since the art was so wonderful!

Many congratulations to the following artists included in this weeks video showcase:

Jerry Jobe, Barb Nebel, Christina Rankin, Aldo Pacheco, Manuela Basaldella, Elaine Taylor, Jane Fiala, Lisa Peters, livenotonevil, Kerryn Benbow, Garry Ryon, Andrea Koerner
