Mobile Photography & Art – Flickr/Instagram Group Showcase – 17 February 2019

When my eldest son was at boarding school, there was the most incredible sensory garden for all the children to enjoy, it was an empowering experience and helped many of the children to blossom. A sensory garden has the ability in many ways to become a sensory room. If you’re not familiar with the umbrella term ‘sensory room’ they are essentially rooms, with special lighting, music and objects, a therapeutic place, one of safety in which to deescalate experiences and promote self care, resilience and recovery.  When we view art, it’s important to use all five senses too, as much as possible, to not just look and move on but to really try to understand the image, to get into the picture, literally.

Mobile art is as much about presence as the senses, about the awareness of what it is to move through it. Whether the artist themselves has fully utilised all of their senses when creating the art, we can heighten our own experience by not only cascading into the picture but by creating circumstances in which that might happen. When we participate in life with all our senses, whether we are in a sensory garden, a sensory room, viewing art, or making love, it is a far more rewarding form of participation and one that you will feel all the better for by throwing yourself into.

In keeping with my New Year Resolutions, this week you’ll find me at the Intercontinental Park Lane Hotel,  as I start preliminary judging the Pink Lady Food Awards.

Thank you to all the talented artists for submitting your works to our showcase this week. The path of true love… did it ever run smoothly? I don’t think anyone can say agree positively with that. Arguing the toss with someone you love – can be futile and the consequences make it uncomfortable. Disagreeing with restraint, is the ideal but how many of us do that, all of the time? Whether this week has meant you’ve loaded the dishwasher in silence with your partner, or with strong words and broken crockery, we have to make a time to come together and try not to cross some of the ideological lines. So, how do we do that? How do we get back to that initial feeling of being passionately in love? Well, this week, having cut one of my fingers gravely, way too early in the morning, I’ve been somewhat restricted in what I can do, driving, cooking, typing and washing my hair. Fortunately, my husband took care of the latter yesterday and it was a mutually blissful. Touch is a very powerful feeling and its not just physical, as you will notice when viewing this weeks showcase. You’ll be touched by the powerful mobile imagery and the story that unfolds. Each image a story in itself and built together as one hit musical. Expressing creativity is an essential human trait, if you don’t bring forth what is within you, what you don’t bring forth will destroy you (Gospel of Thomas) – not that I’m terribly religious..  No more is this apparent than in one of Britains treasured artists Tracey Emin and I’m off to meet her this week.  Perhaps best known for her shortlisted Turner Prize 1999, work entitled ‘My Bed’. I’ll report back on how that goes, wishing you all a very beautiful creative, week ahead.

Thank you to all the talented artists for submitting your works to our showcase this week, it’s one of true splendor. Mobile Photography / Art New Year Resolutions 2019 From Artists Throughout The World

Share

We are delighted to publish our New Year Resolutions for 2019 from a selection of highly talented mobile photographers and artists throughout the world. As in previous years we have asked mobile photographers and artists for their New Year Resolutions with an accompanying image or video . Thank you to everyone who has contributed, they all make great reading, viewing and are inspiring, we are forever grateful to you all.

One of my New Year Resolutions this year is to accept an invitation to at least one Private View Exhibition each month. Naturally, I do not want to attend these on my own, so I am inviting our readers to contribute to each opportunity by supplying questions for the artist I am viewing. The first private view I will be attending this year, is in early February, with Tracey Emin, at her major solo exhibition entitled ‘A Fortnight of Tears’. I’ll be chatting with Emin there, so please forward any questions you would like me to ask her, on your behalf. Another of my New Year Resolutions is to try to give each individual artist more of my time. That’s no easy task but I believe so strongly in all of your work, I want to encourage and help as much as I can. So, to each and every one of you, I wish you a very Happy New Year, with much good health, wealth and success!

(Editors note: If you have not contributed to this post and you would like to, or if you have sent me your brief and I have not included it here, please let me know and I will open up this post and add it and of course you have my apologises in advance).

Sometimes, when reading a book, visually I am often sped far away to artwork that has touched me . Such is the case with an unpredictable tale of passion and pianos set in 1880’s France and Russia that I am currently reading. Love is Blind is the 15th novel by one of my favourite authors, … Read moreMobile Photography & Art – Flickr Group Showcase – 13 January 2019

There’s much humour to be had at my nightstand, not least in the morning when my husband duels with balancing fresh coffee on the piles of books and there’s a particular book, which I feel should be on every woman’s nightstand ‘Milk and Honey’ by Rupi Kaur. It’s a book of poetry, about healing and hope, discussing themes of love and loss, bringing about an enlightened self. Kaur ends the book with a tender love letter to her readers, thus reads “you have made it to the end. With my heart in your hands. Thank you. For arriving here safely. For being tender with the most delicate part of me. Sit down. Breathe. You must be tired. Let me kiss your hands. Your eyes. They must be wanting of something sweet. I am sending you all my sugar. I would be nowhere and nothing if it were not for you. But was too afraid to be. Do you have any idea how much of a miracle you are? How lovely it’s been and how lovely it will always be? I am kneeling before you. Saying thank you. I am sending my love to your eyes. May they always see goodness in people and may you always practice kindness. May we see each other as one. May we be nothing short of in love with everything the universe has to offer and may we always stay grounded. Rooted. Our feet planted firmly onto the earth”. This book will certainly not be everybody’s cup of tea, I know that and I am overlooking it. If it helps just one of you, then I am happy to mention it here.

Thank you to all the talented artists for submitting your works to our showcase this week, it’s one of true splendor. If you would like your work to be considered for entry in to our weekly Mobile Photography and Art Flickr Group, please submit it to our dedicated group, here.

Mobile Photography & Art – Portrait of an Artist – Celebration of the Year 2018

From 2013 to 2016 Carolyn Hall Young found the inspiration for her art in the people that surrounded her and in the Mobile art community. Confined mainly to her bed she found a way to manifest the creativity and art in her soul and thus, stay into our hearts and worlds forever. It has been already two years without her but we will never stop celebrating her life and all the love and joy she spread while she was on this earth.

With her work as an inspiration Seeing Through The Eyes Of… is a series of interviews and collaborations for Joanne Carter’s Portrait Of an Artist section of TheAppWhisperer.com that intends to inspire the community to do more collaborative works and it is also my personal way to thank Carolyn for her strength and exemplary love for life.

Forever missed.

What is remarkable about your vision, as mobile artists, is that it remains intensely human rooted in common experience, replete with doubt, frustration but also conjoined with belief and certainity. Characteristics demonstrative of our obsession with this new medium. Welcome back to our sixty first post in our Tickle Your Fancy section. ‘Tickle Your Fancy’ includes a round-up of between seven to eight links to articles from around TheAppWhisperer over the past few week, that you may by chance have missed. Please note, I’ve been a little unwell this week, so have not published as much as I wanted to.
