Mobile Photography & Art – Portrait of an Artist – Seeing Through The Eyes Of Clint Cline

Share

We are delighted to bring to you the sixth in our brand new series of interviews within our Portrait of an Artist column entitled ‘Seeing through the eyes…’. This is a section that has been created by our wonderful Portrait of an Artist Editor, Ile Mont. Mont has been inspired by the life and works of Carolyn Hall Young, as so many of us have. Young was the main contributor to our Portrait of an Artist Flickr pool and filled it with portraits of so many wonderful people, not only of herself. It is for this reason that Mont wanted to create this section, to enable us to view the artists style through their own eyes. At the end of each interview, Mont will keep Young’s tradition alive, with a portrait of herself, seen through the eyes of the artist. In this case, you will see that at the end of this interview there is a portrait of Mont, seen through the eyes of Clint Cline, what a gift!

Please continue to post your mobile portraiture to our dedicated Flickr group, that way, Mont will search through these artists first to interview. (foreword by Joanne Carter).

This whole showcase is theatre. We open with ‘Red Heart (peel)’ by highly accomplished mobile artist, Poetic Medium who describes her inspiration of her work (in our interview in full here), as ‘the poetry of modern living’. It is an expression of the beliefs of the majority, I would say. Poetic Medium, understands that art should be experienced by both body and mind, by hands, touch as well as eyes and sight. This showcase expresses this view, my curation is not always to create something wholly new but to draw attention to what is already there. As you penetrate this body of art, you’ll become aware of its fluidity and this has something to do with the generosity and openness that we share and embrace within our community of mobile artists.  Enjoy!

Thank you to all artists for submitting your works. If you would like your work to be considered for entry in to our weekly Mobile Photography and Art Flickr Group, please submit it to our dedicated group, here.

Weekend of Mobile Photography/Art with Talented Mobile Artist, Clint Cline

Share

Recently, you may recall that we posted our third in a new series of articles entitled ‘Weekend of Mobile Photography/Art‘. That one was with Alexis Rotella our first was with Jerry Jobe and our second with Fiona Christian, our third with Amanda Parker and this weekend Clint Cline tells all! Take a look…

“My weekend with Sando Botticelli

Assiduus usus uni rei deditus et ingenium et artem saepe vincit. Cicero said that. It means (roughly), “Constant practice committed to a subject often outdoes both intelligence and skill.”

Because I work daily in the communication arts as a writer and designer of print, digital, and video works, my weekends are often eclipsed with projects spilling in from an overstuffed week of To-Do’s. But on the occasional weekend where I find myself without an armload of project briefs or honey-do lists, I heed Cicero and burrow in the practice of new things and unexplored ideas.

When Joanne asked me to consider sharing my weekend, I was coincidentally researching inspiration from the early Renaissance masters for an Easter series I was doing on the  Resurrection of Christ. Her invite arrived as I was studying the classic, almost sculptural, forms of Sando Botticelli’s early Renaissance works. So I decided, in the spirit of Jerry Jobe, to pick an image and take you through my steps of transforming it into a contemporary piece”.

“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humour, and some style”, Maya Angelou – I couldn’t agree more…

What’s happening now in the mobile art and photography scene, as in so many genres of art right now, is a revolt. It’s been building for sometime, but there’s now more urgency. And with that, artists are implored with a range of apocalyptic anxieties. Change is on the cards, however mindful we are aware of this pictorial elegance, we need to support it with passionate pleas and deft authority. At TheAppWhisperer we have a special relationship with our readers, a shared sense of purpose and a commitment to understand and illuminate our times. The depth of our deep sense of duty and responsibility to our readers is to honour the trust your place in us, we ask you to stand by us, we’re just getting started!

Thank you to all artists for submitting your works. If you would like your work to be considered for entry in to our weekly Mobile Photography and Art Flickr Group, please submit it to our dedicated group, here.

Visualising Mobile Photography and Art Interview with Jerry Jobe from the United States

Today, we are publishing our twenty first visual interview, this time with Jerry Jobe from the United States. Jobe creates a compelling and abstract utopia in this series of works for our visualisation interview. Rich in colour, the images are sensuous, drawing us into the illusion of abstraction. Each image collides and rhymes in intensity as they shout out his answers. Fragments of his own body, appear with full force and meaning. The overall effect is actually a fully achieved work in which the forms of images, meld and interlace into an exotic whole.

I am so excited about this new Interview section within TheAppWhisperer. A picture speaks a thousand words, so says the English language idiom and as this is a website by and for visual artists, we felt this section was long overdue. We asked a series of mobile photographers and artists ten questions, in text format and we asked them to respond in their very best way, visually and in their own style of photography/art, the results are unique and incredibly exciting.

To read our previously published interviews, with Deborah McMillion, M. Cecilia Sao Thiago, Christine Sobczak, Liliana Schwitter, Armineh Hovanesian, Lorenka Campos, Donna Donato, Eliza Badoiu, Juta Jazz, Susan Rennie, Kate Zari Roberts, Lynette Sheppard, Debara Splendorio, Irene Oleksiuk, Davide Capponi, Vanessa Vox, Amanda Parker, Clint Cline, Christine Mignon and Bonobo Stone please go here.

Mobile Photography – Instagram TAKEOVER with @sunflowerof 21 – Days 11 – 15

Share

We are so excited with our latest Instagram TAKEOVER this time with @sunflowerof21 – Elaine Taylor, she is a respected and very talented mobile photographer. Taylor has been granted full access to our Instagram account and she is doing a very impressive job. We are very proud of her!

On Day 11 @sunflowerof21 highlighted the work of @adrianmcgarry – Adrian McGarry and she writes “I was very happy to stumble upon this fantastic image on the #theappwhisperer tag. It’s atmospheric and dramatic, but also calming and dreamy. I can almost hear the waves and smell the sea when I look at it. What a beautiful image! ~ @sunflowerof21″

On Day 12 @sunflowerof21 highlighted the work of @_soulkitchen_ – Valeria Cammareri and she writes, “Hello. @sunflowerof21 here with my next selection from the #theappwhisperer tag. Valeria is a brilliant mobile photographer and storyteller. I particularly love her black & white images, and the way she captures light & shadows. Here’s a great example. Head to her profile to see more fabulous images”.

On Day 13 @sunflowerof21 highlighted the work of @pictrola – Todd Leban and she writes, “@sunflowerof21 here with another selection from the #theappwhisperer tag. When I saw this image on the tag earlier today, I immediately recognised it as Todd’s and pounced on it. Todd doesn’t post often, but when he does it’s always well worth the wait. He does still life like no other. His photos are not just a random collection of things neatly arranged within a frame. They are deliberate, beautiful, unique and creative. They have life and meaning. They have stories. Please go to the original post in Todd’s profile to read the backstory to this image and enjoy the rest of his amazing work”.

On Day 14 @sunflowerof21 highlighted the work of @clixit2020 – Clint Cline and she writes, “I’m really chuffed to be able to highlight the work of @clixit2020 as part of my #theappwhisperer takeover. Every time I see one of Clint’s powerful abstract images, I wish I had created it. I love the colours, shapes and balance in his work. Like @pictola’s work, which I featured yesterday, each of his image tells a story and evokes emotion.  I absolutely adore his work. If you’re not familiar with it, please check it out. ~ @sunflowerof21″

On Day 15 @sunflowerof21 highlighted the work of @manuelamatosmonteiro – Manuela Monteiro and she writes, “Manuela’s most recent post on the #theappwhisperer tag caught my eye today, and that led me on a very enjoyable journey through her Instagram feed. I simply had to feature her work, but choosing just one image was very difficult – her images are so varied and brilliant. In the end, I was swayed by the muted colours and composition of this one. She posted it a couple of years ago, but I think it definitely deserves to be in the spotlight again. It’s a really wonderful image and a pleaure to feature here. ~ @sunflowerof21″

Please take a look at our @TheAppWhisperer Instagram account to follow all the goings on and please also tag your images with #TheAppWhisperer, so that they can be found and potentially featured.

Mobile Photography & Art – Flickr Group Showcase – 29 April 2018

It has been said (‘Teenagers: A Natural History’: David Bainbridge, 2010) that teenage years are to develop the brain and as such they are the greatest achievement of evolution – the point where all that is special about our species comes into play. For parents of teenagers, it’s our job to look after them while they are incubating their extraordinary craniums. “Adolescence is the reason we live so long, long, long,” says Bainbridge. “Human longevity has evolved because we need to bring up our intensely supported, slowly developing offspring.” And that’s of course intensely important, being a parent at this stage is a constant negotiation between keeping them safe and letting them go. It’s about balance as in life as in art. We all need to trust, It’s fierce trust, it demands you put forth your work, without knowing an outcome because fierce trust knows that the outcome does not matter, it cannot matter. Keep sharing your work, each one of you reading this was born to create. Ask yourself, how fierce is your trust in that love? Keep creating, keep viewing, it’s our labour of love.

Thank you to all artists for submitting your works. If you would like your work to be considered for entry in to our weekly Mobile Photography and Art Flickr Group, please submit it to our dedicated group, here.
