Ones that we feel are relevant to your interest in photography and art.

Sony Xperia Z3 DxO Review – Kevin Carter

Share

Kevin Carter our Head of Technical Hardware as well as the Lead Technical Editor for DxOMark and the British Journal of Photography among others, recently as tested Sony’s Xperia Z3 smartphone.

Kevin explains “With an over DxOMobile score of 82 points, the Xperia Z3+ shows some slight improvement in image quality over its predecessors the Z3 and Z2, which both achieved the same score of 79 points. However, while the improvement isn’t huge exactly, it is good enough to place the flagship Z3+ in the Top 3 — in joint third place next to the latest iteration of Apple’s smartphone, the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.

Kevin Carter our Head of Technical Hardware as well as the Lead Technical Editor for DxOMark and the British Journal of Photography among others, recently tested the Apple’s new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. The DxOMark tests represent the official gold standard scientific data and is the industry standard.

Kevin/DxOMark have compared the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus to notable smartphones in the industry, as well as between each other, as you will see in the report.

DPReview use Kevin’s scientific data in their reviews, as they show here, “The DxOMark team reports the iPhone 6 shows “very good overall exposure, impressive autofocus performance in both low and bright light, good color rendering and nice detail preservation outdoors and indoors”. The engineers were also impressed with the new device’s flash behaviour which resulted in “good exposure, stable white balance, good color rendering, low noise level and good detail preservation.”

On the downside there is “luminance noise visible in low light conditions and color quantification, ghosting and fringing noticeable on HDR pictures.”
