Apple Quietly Launches New Battery Case for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s

Share

Battery life has always been one of much contention for mobile photographers and artists. It’s always a conversation of much debate, ‘which battery charger do you recommend?’ is a question I am very familiar with. Usually, I recommend ones that I personally use myself, Jackery for example produce some good products, that do not cost too much. Mophie Juice is another uber popular manufacturer, I also recommend Otterbox highly. Interestingly, yesterday Apple quietly launched their own iPhone 6s battery pack, this is the first time Apple have ever encroached on this market and I am sure it’s one that has sent third party battery manufacturers into an array of hysteria.

Apple’s new Smart Battery case retails for $99/£79 and adds 1877mAh of battery power, this will increase the battery power of a flat iPhone 6 or 7s to 80% charge. TalkTime increases to 25 hours, video playback up to 20 hours and internet use to 18 hours on LTE, according to Apple.

Of course, no Apple Smart Battery would be worth its salt if it wasn’t accompanied by an App and Apple takes care of that, enabling you to easily monitor the battery life of your phone and case within the Notification Centre, inside the battery widget.

So for $99/£79 you can pick up 1877mAH of Apple life for your iPhone 6 or 6s, however for the same price you could pick up 2700mAH by way of a Mophie.

NB: I have not physically seen this new product yet but reports are coming in that the 3.5mm headphone jack has been obscured by this product. Of course, we know of the rumours that Apple are planning on eliminating the headphone jack in the next iPhone but…

Kickstarter Campaign – Olloclip Studio for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus

Share

We were inspired to learn about this new Olloclip Kickstarter campaign, called the Olloclip Studio for the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.  The olloclip Studio system is the combination of an all-new, more protective case design that incorporates an integrated mounting solution (patent pending) and a series of mobile photography accessories. Both the case and accessories are designed to intuitively work together the moment you pick them up. Unlike many of today’s modular mobile grip systems, olloclip’s Studio components seamlessly work together so you can focus on capturing the opportunity in front of you and not on building a rig.

The olloclip Studio Accessory Kit includes an ingenious two-finger universal grip (you’ll never hold your iPhone the same way again), a convenient Kickstand, a set of ¼-20 mounts to attach a tripod, grip or handles (for both landscape and portrait orientation), and a set of cold-shoe adapters for lightweight accessories like a microphone or light.

The goal for this Kickstarter campaign is $100,000 with 29 days still to go, the manufacturers have already been pledged $42,526.  If you would like to contribute or learn more about this campaign, please go here.

We’ve all been loving Apple’s World Gallery ad campaign for its iPhone 6. Launched in March 2015, this campaign commonly known as ‘Shot on iPhone 6’ after Apple curated the best images from users work via Flickr and Instagram to display on billboards, posters and creative environments all around the world. The campaign featured 162 users and more than 10,000 installations in 75 cities in 25 countries.

Juan Carlos Ortiz, Creative Chairman at DDB Americas and Jury president for Cannes Lions, declared Apple’s campaign ‘a game changer’.

The campaign, a collaboration of Apple and TBWA/Media Arts Lab, also won five Gold Lions awards for individual ‘Shot on iPhone 6 posters. See more here.

Apple Bows To iPhone 6 Mobile Photography – World Gallery – TheAppWhisperer

Share

Apple has ‘quite rightly’ taken over their homepage with a new section entitled World Gallery. It’s a curation of images taken with either the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6+. This is a global selection and will in its entirety feature 77 photographers across 70 cities and 24 countries. From Sydney to Beijing to San Francisco to New York City to London and more, Apple will feature iPhone photographers and their work on posters at bus stops and train stations in newspapers and on billboards.

It’s pure delight and a testament to all that we do here at TheAppWhisperer.com that Apple are featuring the artists’ work in this campaign. This is what the iPhone 6/+ is about – creating art and it’s so good to see it portrayed like this as opposed to many images of the product itself. Big shout out to Apple.
