Mobile Photography and Art – A Picture’s Worth with Magda De Jonge Malucha from Ibiza, Spain

Share

A Picture’s Worth‘… is where we ask mobile photographers that have created powerful mobile photography/art to explain the processes they took. This includes their initial thoughts as to what they wanted to create, why they wanted to create it, how they created it, including all apps used and what they wanted to convey. We also ask these incredible artists to explain their emotions and how the image projects those feelings. We have published a few A Picture’s Worth articles recently, if you have missed those – please go here.

In this A Picture’s Worth today we asked Magda De Jonge Malucha to tell us more about her image featured here. De Jonge Malucha has detailed her thoughts below, we think you’ll find this invaluable…

Mobile Photography – Saturday Poetry – ‘The Answer’ by Sara Teasdale with @blurrybirdy

Share

This weeks Saturday Poetry, matched with mobile photography/art is entitled ‘The Answer’ by Sara Teasdale. “Sara Teasdale received public admiration for her well-crafted lyrical poetry which centered on a woman’s changing perspectives on beauty, love, and death. Many of Teasdale’s poems chart developments in her own life, from her experiences as a sheltered young woman in St. Louis, to those as a successful yet increasingly uneasy writer in New York City, to a depressed and disillusioned person who would commit suicide in 1933. Although many later critics would not consider Teasdale a major poet, she was popular in her lifetime with both the public and critics. She won the first Columbia Poetry Prize in 1918, a prize that would later be renamed the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry“.

Mobile Photography & Art Flickr Showcase – 15 April 2017

“Mercy is radical kindness. Mercy means offering or being offered aid in desperate straits. Mercy is not deserved. It involves forgiving the debt, absolving the unabsolvable. Mercy brings us to the miracle of apology, given and accepted, to unashamed humility when we have erred or forgotten”. This is a quotation from a new book I have been reading this week by Anne Lamott. I have several of her books and enjoy reading them over and over, this one entitled ‘Hallelujah Anyway’, is just perfect for Easter Day and for our Mobile Photography & Art showcase. You see, mobile imagery is created by some of the most wonderful artists, living today, in our world. So many of these artists cast doubts to their talents and they should not. Whenever I am lucky enough to talk with these artists in person, I feel it. The most important thing and I say it time after time, is to believe in yourself, in your abilities and to be kind to yourself. Life, this life, is not a competition. It’s not about winning the next one, or being in the next exhibition, it’s nice when it happens, if you want it to but don’t centre on that. Have mercy on yourself and on others and let your talents shine through.  I will see it, whether I’m representing a competition or not, I will see your work, keep going, do not stop but rest and take a break when you need to. Keep paying attention and feed your souls.

Happy Easter!

If you would like your work to be considered for entry into our weekly Mobile Photography and Art flickr group, please submit it to our dedicated group, here. If you would like to view our previous Flickr Group Showcases (please go here).
