As many of you will know, among the assortment of hats that I wear, writing for the BBC and Vogue, I am also Contributing Editor to LensCulture.  My latest article with LensCulture has recently been published. This time, I review David Booker’s/BlemishedEye’s mobile photography portfolio and philosophy and have created an insight into the mind behind the images. I have republished it below (if you would like to read/view it on LensCulture, please go here).

“I have always been drawn to images that have a dark undertone to them, particularly when combined with a sensual or sexual element.”

—David Booker in conversation with LensCulture Contributing Editor, Joanne Carter.

Mobile Photography/Art Tutorial – KaleidaCam – A Beautiful Diversion

Share

We are delighted to publish Jerry Jobe’s latest mobile photography/art tutorial for our reading and viewing pleasure. This week Jobe takes a look at the mobile photography textural app, KaleidaCam. Read his thoughts as he puts it through its paces (foreword by Joanne Carter).

KaleidaCam retails for $1.99/£1.49 and you can download it here

“When I look for an app to follow up a multi-part tutorial on a full-featured app, I try to cover a simple app. This time is no exception. KaleidaCam is an extremely simple app to operate, but it can take up a lot of your time as you exclaim, “Ooh! Look at that!”

KaleidaCam is an iPhone only app. It will run on your iPad, but at iPhone size unless you enlarge it”.

APPart – Mobile Art – Pantone Color of the Day – ‘Sunflower’ – TheAppWhisperer

Share

Many of you have already seen our new segment to our APPart column here at TheAppWhisperer, edited by Bobbi McMurry.

We would like to inspire all mobile artists to create one image a day using the selected colour of Pantone’s ‘Color of the Day’ – see here (we will announce the colour each day). As well a ‘Color of the Day’, Pantone also link that colour with adjectives and/or nouns.

For your information Pantone’s ‘Color of the Day’ was originally created by renowned astrologer Michele Bernhardt – you can read more about her here.

Today’s Pantone color of the day is ‘Sunflower’ (16-1054) and the accompanying descriptives are ‘Productive, Diligent and Courageous’. So, we would like to see your creations using this colour in combination with those words, if possible. It’s a challenge after all!

Once you have created your image, please post it to Instagram with the following hashtag #taw_appart_coloroftheday (please don’t forget the underscores). We will view each uploaded image a day and select a winning creation and this will be published to our main website here as well as being featured throughout our vast social media channels.

Mobile Photography/Art Tutorial – ‘Polarr Photo Editor’ – Part 2: A Timely Update

Share

We are delighted to publish Jerry Jobe’s latest mobile photography/art tutorial for our reading and viewing pleasure. This week we have published Part 2 of Jobe’s two part series on Polarr Photo Editor. If you missed Part 1, Please go here. Read his thoughts as he puts it through its paces (foreword by Joanne Carter).

Polarr Photo Editor is free and download it here

“Writing tutorials for brand-new apps can result in having incorrect information published. App developers, working under a deadline, will sometimes release an app that works, but is not entirely what they wanted. The app developers will then work the final changes into an update, which may or may not change how the app works shortly after its debut.

After I wrote Part 1 of this Polarr tutorial, but before it was published, Polarr had such an update to their app. It wasn’t that the app didn’t work, or was full of bugs – it just didn’t have all the features they had planned. As we continue with part 2, I’ll point out the changes, bringing the information on this app up to date”.
