Only dedicated circles can give birth to something new‘, a quote by a circle of African wise women, capturing an important lesson in life, engagement starts small and requires a team of committed people. This quote is also functional to TheAppWhisperer and Mobile Photography and Art. Each artist featured in this weeks Mobile Photography and Art Showcase is dedicated and emotionally engaged with the present and future of our art. They are also committed to initiating and implementing all the changes we need to bring about, to move forward. We as a group are willing to respect each other and each others work. TheAppWhisperer is a holding space, for the future of mobile photogrpahy and art, an emotional home for our joint iniative. If you pay attention to somebody, or something, that’s an expression of love. Only when you love, can you do that. Implementing freedom of your own thoughts, is genuine freedom, when you get there, it can be transformative and healing. Pause, connect, create, this is the secret. Enjoy!

Seduction has its own narrative and this weeks mobile photography and art showcase is arranged accordingly. How far you can go is a question in art, as in life and in mobile art life, there’s no limit.

It’s been said that the art of seduction is rarely seductive but this of course depends on your own view, function before fantasy or vice versa. In England, a psychological study revealed the secret that it’s said history’s greatest seducers have known all along, a sense of humour. Particularly and most likely biased, a British self-deprecating humour apparently.

The most important thing is not to take ourselves too seriously, outlaw pomposity and self importance and cosy up with the real raw seduction of this showcase. Enjoy!

The past only comes back‘, wrote Virginia Woolf in her unfinished memoir, “when the present runs so smoothly that it is like the sliding surface of a deep river. Then one sees through the surface to the depths“. I confess, I am a huge fan of Virginia Woolf, the English writer who is considered to be one of the foremost modernists of the twentieth century and essentially (to me) a pioneer in the use of stream of consciousness as a narrative device. I ‘discovered’ Woolf’s work as a young girl, long before my eldest son attended boarding school, in Lewes, where she died, drowning herself in the River Ouse, not far from her home. Woolf above all was a pioneer for women, she is a reminder to us all that we must follow our creative urges, we must make up for the time lost (essentially in the West), where we are now freed. One of the many things I love about mobile photography and art, is that women are owning it. I am not against male work at all but I love, the freedom it gives to women, and men are adoring us, even more for it. The creative coalescing between all of our work makes for a richer, deeper picture. We speak to each other, through our imagery, We are all part of this powerful show and how it plays on, rejoice!

The Guetta Fringe – Update on Our ‘New’ Form of Artistic Installation…

Share

You may recall on 19th June 2017, one of our many uber cool editors Roger Guetta announced that he had a ‘big idea’ involving everyone in the Mobile Arts Community. Guetta explained “It involves a collective creation. A form of artistic installation which can be sent to whomever wants it hung along their next gallery show, at their next home party or at the next Mobile Arts Festival wherever and whenever that might be“. This creation is our very own mobile art quilt. All participants simply travel to a tee shirt printing outlet with a 4”x4” piece of non stretchy fabric and a file of a favourite image. (If this is too much of a hassle, everyone send their image directly to Guetta, he will then print on fabric).

Also, news just in from Kate Zari Roberts via Guetta is thus: “The Director/Curator of the Month of Photography emailed me and said he will definitely find a place for our quilt so schedule it for Denver in March/April 2019 with time enough ahead for shipping and installation“.

Chatting with Guetta earlier today, he has asked me to notify of you all of an extension to his original deadline. The deadline has been extended to 7 July 2017 – more reason, for more entries. So come on, lets do this!

The Guetta Fringe – A ‘New’ Form of Artistic Installation…

I have an idea. It’s a big idea and involves each and everyone of you in the ‘Mobile Arts Community.’ It involves a collective creation. A form of artistic installation which can be sent to whomever wants it hung along their next gallery show, at their next home party or at the next Mobile Arts Festival wherever and whenever that might be. (create a reason and it’s shipped)

The last time a project of this magnitude was created was in 1980 when artist Judy Chicago conceptualised and actualised a giant quilt with the help of different women or groups honouring and addressing individually selected women, women’s organisations or women’s issues, honoured by Chicago’s The Dinner Party.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Honor_Quilt

I propose that we create our very own quilt. I suggest we go about it this way:

1. All participants simply travels to a tee shirt printing outlet with a 4”x4” piece of non stretchy fabric and a file of a fave image. (If this is too much of a hassle, everyone sends me a file..I then print on fabric.)

2. Sends the square to a quilter who will sew the quilt together. Done…. Easy Peasy.

The quilt, once finished can now be photographed so we can all rejoice and appreciate its awesomeness.

Anytime a participant wants the quilt for whatever reason, the collective can all chip in to cover the shipping costs.

There you have it; The big idea done and dusted, ready to commemorate our bond as artists and creators.
