The Apple v Samsung war shows no abating and this morning it has been reported that Samsung have rented a pop-up shop next door to one of Apple’s stores in Australia where it is selling Samsung S II handsets for $2 – that’s the retail price – no contract! This sale goes on until Friday in a presumed attempt to tempt would be iPhone 4S shoppers to the ‘dark side’. So if you’re in Australia it’s no a no-brainer – if you’ve elsewhere then you may need to weigh up the flight into the budget.

Mango OS Now Running On New Samsung Omnia W
Samsung has announced today that their Windows phones, the Omnia range now have a new model in their stable, the Omnia W. Samsung explained that this device will their first phone to run Windows Phone 7.5, codenamed, Mango. The smartphone itself sports a 1.4GHz processor with 512MB RAM, 14.4Mbps HSPA+ support, 3.7-inch Super AMOLED display, 5MP autofocus camera and front-facing VGA camera, 720p HD video recording and playback, Bluetooth 2.1, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, 8GB internal memory, A-GPS, 25GB of Windows Live Skydrive free storage and 1500mAH battery. Samsung’s New 7.7 inch Tablet Banned By German Court
Reuters has reported this mornning that on September 2, 2011 a Dusseldorf court ordered Samsung to stop selling their new 7.7 Galaxy Tab. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 was already banned in Germany in late August with a final ruling due on September 9, 2011. A Samsung spokesman, James Chung went on to say "The product is not on sale yet but we’ve decided to respect the court order". This would explain why the above said tablet was reportedly removed sudenly from the shelves at the annual IFA electronics show in Berlin. With the latest news that Steve Jobs has resigned as CEO of Apple going viral around the web, it has had a negative effect on Apple’s share price, currently sporting a 5% drop. According to DailyTech, this said Apple executive, let slip that soon consumers will be able to walk into an Apple store and walk out with an Apple TV – sounds great. Samsung SideKick 4G Will Support Tethering On T-Mobile’s HSPA+ Network
The Samsung SideKick 4G smartphone which we know is joining T-Mobile’s network will support tethering and mobile hotspot functionality. This new model is similar in form factor to the earlier version but this one also includes a 2 GB microSD card along with 1 GB of onboard memory. The handset will run Google Android OS and sports a touchscreen, 1 GHz Hummingbird processor and front facing camera. No launch dates/details yet but keep checking back for that.
