Mobile Photography – Portrait of an Artist – Eighteenth Video Showcase – TheAppWhisperer

Share

Welcome to our eighteenth Portrait of an Artist Showcase! This Showcase complements our Portrait of an Artist Column edited by Ile Mont. Every two weeks Mont will review and curate work that has been submitted to our dedicated Flickr group. In addition, we will create a showcase video which features a sampling of submitted work, we will also highlight a few images that have caught our attention… offering some thoughtful commentary about technique, composition and subject matter.

If you are not a member of our Facebook group… we highly recommend that you join us! This is our space for sharing newsworthy information and conducting discussions (what, when, where, why and how) regarding mobile portraiture and portraiture in general.

Please join our Facebook group for information sharing/discussions (link here)

Please upload your portraiture images to our Flickr Group for fortnightly showcase submissions (link here)

I am delighted to publish the Seoul Museum of Art Flickr Group Showcase that I presented within my lecture this week on Wednesday 23rd September 2015.  I cannot express the impact it made on the audience, they were all thoroughly captivated and mesmerised by your art and the accompanying music. When it finished, there were loud comments of ‘wow’ ‘that was incredible’ and more. The duration of this showcase is over 9 minutes, the audience were transfixed the entire time it played.

Thank you to all the artists I have featured here. There are so many more that I would have loved to include. This content and showcase are incredibly unique and demonstrate the breadth of staggering talent within our mobile photography and art community.

Mobile Movies Showcase – Week 46 – by Donna Donato

Share

Welcome back to the forty-sixth article in the column, Mobile Movies. We at TheAppWhisperer have been inspired by the Flickr upgrade of 1 Terabyte of storage for everyone and have wanted to launch a mobile movie section for some time. Now seems to be perfect, the new Flickr upgrade will allow for a full three minutes of 1080p HD quality video per single film and you can have as many as you have storage space for. Each week I (you can find me on Flickr here) will curate the movie uploads to our new Flickr group MobileMoviesTheAppWhisperer – I will view all the videos uploaded and comment on the ones selected.

”The internet has created other crossroads for films and videos. Mobile devices have democratized not only photography but also video-making. The availability of apps that give digital video the appearance of analogy film, such as grainy black and white super-8, is exciting and important. Now anyone with the desire can make a home movie or ‘film’ and upload it to the web. It is interesting to see what stories and messages people are creating and disseminating.’

All of the entries were either shot or created on mobile devices.

Here is TheAppWhisperer’s video showcase for December 13, 2014. We would like to thank this week’s contributors: Vanessa Vox, Armineh Hovanesian, Jiri Dvorak, SLP, giulia.baita_Giulia Baita and philippe_schlossberg_Philippe Schlossberg for their submissions. Take a look at these latest gems; you’ll be glad you did. Please share our Column with your family and friends, encouraging them to create and submit their mobile videos. We are seeking all platforms, Windows, Android, iOS… Joanne Carter and I will also be scouring the web in search of mobiles movies to present to our readers.

Streets Ahead – Challenge 7 – Steal a Moment

Share

Welcome to the showcase for our seventh challenge ‘Steal a Moment’. The objective of these challenges is to help us collectively practice and perhaps learn some new techniques. Each challenge will be based either on a shooting technique or perhaps a theme. We announced this challenge within our Streets Ahead Facebook group and it features fabulous mobile photography taken on the street using frames such as windows and doorways to create a ‘frame within a frame’.

We would like Streets Ahead to be and interactive group, and for members to try to participate in the challenges.

If you are a woman street photographer, please join our growing community (see links below).

With many congratulations to Armineh Hovanesian, Dani Salvadori, Gina Costa, Giulia Baita, Lee Atwell, Christine Mignon, Cara Gallardo Weil, Elaine Taylor, Grace Brignolle, Louise Whiting, Nicki Fitz-Gerald, Stef LePape, Basak Aytek and Vivi Hanson Sacredote for being featured this time.
