“To take photographs is to hold one’s breath when all faculties converge in the face of fleeting reality. It is at that moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy.” Henri Cartier-Bresson ,1976
Our intention with ‘StreetWise’ is to come together from around the world and share our passion and joy of street photography.
We hope it will be a place that you will find inspiration and motivation, whether you are newer to street photography, or a veteran.
Welcome to our first ‘StreetWise’ mobile photography showcase challenge!
The challenge is to shoot in black and white (or monochrome) to honor the beginnings of ‘classical street photography,’ and, as a homage to one of your favorite classical street photographers (or one that inspires you) from previous decades (think the 50s, 60s or 70s).
Cartier-Bresson also wrote that “while we’re working, we must be conscious of what we’re doing.” That consciousness takes many forms but in the end plucked from the everyday are moments transformed into art. This is what we hope to strive for at ‘StreetWise.’

Our first curated showcase will feature photos from this challenge.
Please remember to post your photos for consideration to our StreetWise Challenge Flickr Group and include ‘’StreetWise’ Monochrome Challenge’ in your title. You may post up to three photos for this challenge. Please include in the description which street photographer you are honouring.
We will run the challenge until April 30th, 2016.
We look so forward to seeing your photos! Enjoy!
