You know that feeling when you just can’t wait to leap out of bed? Well, that happened to me this morning and its not happened for a while. I share a very beauiful bed with a very attractive and intelligent person who manages to stimulate me in every possible way but not even the lure of that deliciousness combined with comforting luscious silk sheets could seduce me this morning. I’m bursting with excitement and renewed direction for TheAppWhisperer, all will be revealed soon.  Mobile Photography and Art is a huge part of my life, when I sleep, I dream multiple times, it’s almost a spiritual experience to me. I see you work, I hear your expressions and I feel your fierce trust. Mobile Photography and Art actually demands fierce trust and that trust lays down the fundamentals, ensuring you create and put forth your work, without knowing or planning an outcome, that must come secondary. Take a look at this weeks showcase, each one of these artists have fierce trust in their work and it shines though, this is truly a magnificent and extraordinary performance. Enjoy!

“Individuals often withhold help because they are uncertain about whether beneficiaries will appreciate their assistance. Expressions of gratitude can signify that a beneficiary values, needs, and accepts one’s assistance. Previous research has shown that grateful feelings enable people to savour positive experiences, cope with stress, and strengthen social relationships. A disposition toward gratitude is also associated with higher levels of subjective well-being, demonstrating that counting one’s blessings can increase positive emotions and health”, Francis Flynn, Professor of Organisational Behaviour at Stanford. Appreciation is one of life’s great motivators, when we take the time to let people know that we value them, it naturally inspires them to continue doing even more. Gratitude is the ultimate gift that keeps on giving and I hope you all realise that each image you create, and each artist that we feature, enables this process to multiply. Emotions can cloud our judgements and influence our decisions when triggered by a situation at hand, it is of course also possible for emotions triggered by one event to spill over and affect another, unrelated situation. Here at TheAppWhisperer HQ, we are well versed in this, ‘linger longer’ as our dear friend and artist Carolyn Hall Young advocated throughout her life. We each have a choice in our decisions, however complex, objectively and thoroughly. This weeks Mobile Photography and Art showcase is bursting with high end creativity. “Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose”, Steve Jobs. For many of us who have stared death in the face too many times, it is important to remember disinhibition can be a good thing, sometimes feeling anonymous frees some people to be dishonest, for others, it frees them to perform at their very best.

Only dedicated circles can give birth to something new‘, a quote by a circle of African wise women, capturing an important lesson in life, engagement starts small and requires a team of committed people. This quote is also functional to TheAppWhisperer and Mobile Photography and Art. Each artist featured in this weeks Mobile Photography and Art Showcase is dedicated and emotionally engaged with the present and future of our art. They are also committed to initiating and implementing all the changes we need to bring about, to move forward. We as a group are willing to respect each other and each others work. TheAppWhisperer is a holding space, for the future of mobile photogrpahy and art, an emotional home for our joint iniative. If you pay attention to somebody, or something, that’s an expression of love. Only when you love, can you do that. Implementing freedom of your own thoughts, is genuine freedom, when you get there, it can be transformative and healing. Pause, connect, create, this is the secret. Enjoy!

Photographs turn the present into past, make contingency into destiny. Whatever their degree of “realism,” all photographs embody a “romantic” relation to reality“, wrote Susan Sontag in the preface to Peter Hujar’s incredible (and now out of print) book ‘Portraits in Life and Death‘. She went on to write, “Photographs instigate, confirm, seal legends. Seen through photographs, people become icons of themselves. Photography converts the world itself into a department store or museum-without-walls in which every subject is depreciated into an article of consumption, promoted into an item for esthetic appreciation. Photography also converts the whole world into a cemetery. Photographers, connoisseurs of beauty, are also — wittingly or unwittingly — the recording-angels of death. The photograph-as-photograph shows death. More than that, it shows the sex-appeal of death“. Of course, this much is true. Having lost far to many close friends, the photographs, recordings that I have continue to keep those alive, to me, they help to keep me close, to appreciate the exisitance of love, lost. With mobile photography, it is possible to capture so much and so often, lives are sustained, photography unites in life as in death.

Wow! What a week for mobile photography and art imagery! You’ve all kept me very busy this morning/afternoon, selecting your images and placing them, carefully into this showcase. So much so, that my mind has almost gone blank with what to say. Usually, on a Sunday, after I have worked on our showcase, I assimilate some words and thoughts, things I have been thinking over during the week, perhaps. Of course, this week took in Valentines Day, which to many of us means love. So, of course, that got me thinking, of the Valentines week that I spent with my love and also, I thought of, perhaps in view of many of the images and messages I received, from others, that perhaps some have not had a love to share it with this year. That’s happened to me of course, we have all felt that at various times in our lives, perhaps when a person we shared a love history with has not come true or just when we have enjoyed our own company. Some say, you don’t find love, love finds you. I have to confess that many of my loves, have found me, in fact most of the time I wasn’t even aware that love was before me, but others noticed and pointed it out. What I do know is that however we do find love, or it finds us, enduring love, is something we have to make, to work on. Humans are imperfect and sustaining love, sometimes in difficult circumstances is challenging, but very worthwhile.

Well, it seems I did find something to say afterall. Thank you everyone for sharing your truly stunning images with us this week. This is definitely a very beautiful showcase.
