No Home Button For Apple iPad 2 or iPhone 5
The Apple iPad 2 rumors and whispers are seriously gaining momentum. The latest one to surface relates to the home button on the soon to be released iPad 2 and iPhone 5. An unconfirmed report, as you might expect, suggests that Apple will rely more on multitouch gestures to return to the home screen rather than a physical button, according to a report at Boy Genius.
They go on to say that their source reported to them them ‘at some point in time, Apple will remove the home button from the iPad’s design. Instead of button taps, you will use new multitouch gestures to navigate to the home screen and also to launch the app switcher’.
This is not altogether surprising, I am sure I am not alone with finding the actual home tap button slightly non fluent in action. When I’m paging through apps on my iPhone or iPad, even with the advent of folders, I still find pressing the home button a bit too physical to return to the home screen. To have a swipe gesture facility at that point would be a lot more user friendly.
