Abundantly was inspired by the developers’ own experiences over the last four years. After a hectic six months which included moving to another country and having a child, husband-and-wife team Michael and Kylie Ransley found themselves pressured and unable to enjoy their days like they used to.

The couple found a way to remind themselves how to live a more fulfilling life through daily reminders and tasks. Spinisland’s new iBeatThat app combines live sporting with virtual competition. For the first time ever, people who enjoy participating in "real world" activities – skateboarding, surfing, Moto X, running, biking, snowboarding, weight lifting, etc. – will have a way to show the world their feats and have some good natured competition with anyone, anywhere, anytime.

The ideas creator Todd Smith says he conceived the idea when watching an online gaming commercial. "I never got into the online gaming phenomenon, but over the years have enjoyed participating in sprint triathlons and other amateur sporting events and thought it would be great if amateur enthusiasts had a way to demonstrate their accomplishments, show their stuff virtually, and have some fun the way online gamers could."  So Todd partnered with Spinisland’s David Herschfield and Barkan Saeed to bring the idea to reality.

Now anyone who participates in a physical activity, be it running, biking, surfing, skateboarding, weightlifting, snow boarding, street biking, Moto X, BMX now has a way to show their stuff and put it up for a vote to see who is the best. Todd says he "hopes the app will continue to open new ways to think about using technologies to bring people together and diminish the restrictions of space and time…and have some fun as well!"

This update adds asynchronous online play thanks to the new turn-based gaming features of Game Center and iOS 5. This means players can now battle online head-to-head making their moves whenever it suits and have up to 30 online games on the go all at once.

You control a fleet of planes, tanks and artillery units around a hand-drawn battlefield on a piece of paper, taking turns making long curve shots and strategic moves to try and outwit and out-skill your opponent.

This is not a simple path-drawing game – the mechanic works exactly like it does with a real pencil (try it!): Point a pencil straight down onto a piece of paper holding it with just your index finger on the top. Then, while pressing down firmly, slowly tilt the top of the pencil – beyond a critical angle threshold the tip will suddenly slip away leaving a line drawn on the paper. This line determines your move or shot on the battlefield.
