Top Five Photo Apps – Photo App Lounge – Davide Capponi

Welcome to our Photo App Lounge section of theappwhisperer.com. This is an area on our site where we ask highly accomplished mobile photographers what their top five photo apps are and why.

We recently published the Top Five Photo Apps as recommended by Yannick Brice , Cedric Blanchon, Irene Sneddon, our Columnist and Award Winning Mobile Artist Sarah Jarrett as well as Louise Fryer and Lisa Waddell’s Top Five Photo Apps including accompanying images demonstrating these selections.

Today we are featuring Davide Capponi a mobile photographer and artist that we have long admired and featured in our Flickr Group Showcase too. Davide lives in Turin, Italy and produces some staggeringly wonderful images. Take a look at what Davide describes and portrays as his Top Five Photo apps, accompanied by his wonderful imagery…

Number One – Glaze

I like to give a painterly touch to my images and Glaze is one of the app that I prefer to this end: it features a great number of styles and allows you to generate new ones and save them as favorites. Glaze provides to images almost a “physical” feel.

Number Two – Decim8

Decim8 has been one my favourite apps since my first stepsas an iPhoneographer. The effects provided range from subtle to wild and it takes some time to learn how to use them but the results can be breathtaking. My currently preferred effects are Tribomb and Glassdagger, they add geometric patterns to the images.

Number Three – Repix

Repix is my recent addition to the painterly family of apps and a great one! It enables you to hand paint your photos, a challenge but also a way to give a really personal touch to them. My preferred brushes are Van Gogh and Etching.

Number Four – DecoSketch

I recently wanted to introduce geometric patterns in my photography and when I asked my fellow iPhoneographers a good app to do that, there was only one answer: Deco Sketch. Since then it is my reference app for any geometric pattern I want to introduce in my imagery. Don’t be scared if at first it seems difficult to use: just experiment and you’ll find your own way to reap the benefits of this highly sophisticated tool.

Number Five – Modern Grunge

I love to add textures to my images and I use many different apps to do that, including shooting my own textures to blend them. The app I use most though is Modern Grunge, that features a good number of textures and adds colored layers to photos.
