Gina has once again commented on this weeks hand-picked images, it’s such a delight to read her expressive and articulate thoughts and Cara has put together a phenomenal video showcase, it will leave you breathless – thank you both so much.

We hope you enjoy this week’s showcase and many congratulations to the following artists for being featured this week including:

Donna Donato, Cynthia Westover, Cecily Bateu, Anne-Martine Parent, Connie Rosenthal,  Stefanie LePape, Armineh Hovansian, Vanessa Vox, Gillian Brodie, Vivi Hanson Sacredote, Robin Sacknoff, Shayna Schulman, Julia Nathanson, Gina Costa, Basek Aytek, Christine Mignon, Geri Centonze, Lee Atwell, Michelle Robinson, Piel Adentro,  Nicki Fitzgerald, Laura Peischl, Tracey Mitchell Giggs, Giulia Baita, Peg Price, Dani Salvadori, Kate Hailey, Cathrine Halsor, Susan Rennie, Louise Whiting.

Osaka Station by Connie Rosenthal

The point of view and angle of this shot gives it its intrigue and dynamic quality as we are swept into the furious rush of these business men as they make their way through the Osaka subway. The blur effect of the right foreground figures adds to the sense of urgency of the shot. Great Connie!

El Instante by Piel Adentro

The subject of this shot is as strong and silent as the pillar and background fountain that frame her. This quiet “instant” tells us much about this woman who must have weathered untold stories of hardship. A lovely study of character Piel!

Lady Shooters by Cynthia Westover

There is no need to convince anyone that this visually compelling composition of lady street shooters is engaging in its cinematic qualities. This shot could be a still from a sci-fi film, as we are transported into the barrel of this passageway.

Her by Giulia Biata

This haunting image clearly seems as if it is a still from a 1950’s black and white Fellini film. The female figure is illuminated in the building’s shadow, and if you look closely, it is almost as if you can see her reflection in the hazy atmosphere. This is a wonderful, moody, retro image, Brava Giulia!

Walking the Puddle by Donna Donato

Donna’s astute, cinematic eye catches this street scene reflected in the puddle of the Parisian street. The strong diagonals of the sidewalk cut through the reflection, and keep the image from being mundane or trite. A keen eye and masterful touch!

A thoughtful and intriguing selection of images. Kudos to the artists featured. Thank you for selecting my image “Pat and Lonnie” – sadly, I found out last week that Lonnie was diagnosed with late stage melanoma. Before submitting this image, I had gifted them with several prints of another portrait I had taken of them ( also featured in a previous Streets Ahead showcase) two years ago. The streets and street portraits are ephemeral, like life. Carpe diem.

Very honored by this comment and article. As always, thanks for including me with such talent.
