TheAppWhisperer at The Photography Show 2015 – Seduced by Jackery – Portable Battery Chargers

Well, you know, I had such a fabulous time at The Photography Show 2015, hopefully you’ve read about my seminars, if not, I have a special section for you to indulge yourselves, here. One thing I haven’t mentioned yet though, is the fun I had with the mobile photography hardware that I was sent and demonstrated on stage.

A common question we’re asked here at TheAppWhisperer.com is ‘what’s the best portable battery charger for my mobile phone/device?’.  We have looked at a lot and we are currently being seduced by Jackery’s gorgeous devices.  Their slogan ’empowering life on the go’ is an important one, not least when it comes to mobile photography and art, we’re all so dependant on portable power.

I was sent three devices to demonstrate, the Giant+, the Bar and the Mini. I will detail more information about them below.

Jackery HQ are a very communicative and generous company we will be detailing a reader giveaway tomorrow and following that up with a discount code for all of our readers too, so hold tight before purchasing. Make sure you check back tomorrow for more details.

Jackery Giant+

The Giant+ is a larger power capacity design with four cells, producing 12,000 mAh rechargeable power capacity. Super-fast charge output (5V/3A) though dual USB ports (5V/2.1A and 5V/1A) allow for simultaneous charging of your iPad, iPhone, Android, and more at high speed. This external battery charger adds 500% – 600% extra battery life.  The Giant+ supports up to 3 amps across both USB ports. This means that you can charge two devices at the same time and they’ll both charge at their maximum rates. Some external battery packs limit the total amperage, which gives you a slower charge rate when you have more than one device plugged in. Not so with the Giant+. It’s a little on the heavy side though, 10.4 ounces, which you’ll notice in your pocket or handbag, it’s noticeable but sometimes will be necessary. There are some additional useful features to this battery pack including LED indicators to tell you how much juice remains in the battery. It also has an automatic shut-off feature to help preserve the battery’s charge. If the battery starts to run low, you’ll become aware of that. There’s also an LED torch/flashlight attached to the device.

Jackery Bar

Fast and small with 6,000 mAh rechargeable power capacity. Adds 22 extra hours of talk time or 2-3 full charges to your iPhone 5S / 5C / 5 / 4S / 4 ; 1-2 full charges to Samsung Galaxy S4, S3, 200+ hours of audio playback. This external battery charger adds 200% -300% extra battery life.  The Bar weighs only 5.5 ounces and measures 3.8 x 1.8 x 0.9 inches. There are two different charging methods, USB and USB-micro. The Jackery Bar can be fully charged in six hours – you’ll be able to tell the charge is complete when you notice all three LED indicators are lit.

Jackery Mini

Adds 10 extra hours of talk time or 1 full charge to your iPhones. This external battery charger adds 100% extra battery life. Not so good for tablets as only 2,600mAH and 1A but it’s light to carry and fast charging, so a good product to always have with you for your smartphone.
