What Apps Are We Using This Month? with Robyn Barron

Welcome to TheAppWhisperer’s new section, “What apps are we using this month” series, where we discover which apps you are particularly enjoying. Kicking us off today is non-other than notable Mobile Artist Robyn Barron @leafandflowerimages.

Thanks so much, Joanne for the opportunity to participate in your wonderful ‘what apps’ theme. My name is Robyn Barron and I live in the small coastal town of Alstonville in Northern NSW. I am 65 years old and still working as a garden consultant and a botanical photographer.

My flow of work always starts with Hipstamatic usually with Jane lens and Sussex film, altering the intensity with the range of tools available. This gives me a perfect base to work from. Sometimes I will use a technique called double baking in which I save the original edit and overlay others. You can achieve incredible results this way – the possibilities are endless. A big thank you to Rosie Karel @rosiekimages for telling me how to do this!!
Thanks for reading!!!
apps
‘Queen of Flowers and Friends’ ©Robyn Barron – People seem to like my romantic vintage edits which are achieved by using (after Hipstamatic) a combination of Mextures, my own formula, then Formulas with filters like Cyanotype and ferrotype with the percentage halved.

‘Beach Flotsam’ ©Robyn Barron – Right now I am hugely enjoying playing with Carbon – it has a very interesting range of filters and effects to give my images either a fabulous crisp black and white or a slightly desaturated romantic feel. Lots of fun!!

‘Life in Balance’ ©Robyn Barron – This image is one where I used firstly Jane/Uchitel20 Combo saved and baked it with Sergei Lens. I like the softened overall effect.
