Paul Mellon Centre – Yale – Spring 2026 Funding Opportunities
If you are undertaking research, projects or activities in the broad field of British art and architecture which need support, or plan to embark on an MA or PhD, do take a look.
The majority of the Spring 2026 opportunities are aimed at individual researchers. Many are offered as Fellowships designed to allow individuals the time and funding support to concentrate on undertaking uninterrupted research towards their project.
Fellowships on offer are:
Awards of £60,000 to support a senior scholar for twelve months.
Awards of £18,000 to support an individual at a mid-career level for four months.
Awards of £15,000 to support an individual who has recently completed their PhD for six months.
Awards of £8,000 to support an internationally based PhD student to travel to the UK for three months of research.
An award for an individual to stay at the British School at Rome for three months whilst undertaking research.
We will also be offering our New Narratives set of awards again this spring, and we are delighted to be able to offer two Early Career Fellowships this year. This Fellowship is an award of £35,000 a year for two years designed to support an individual at an early career level undertaking a research project. The Early Career Fellowship sits alongside our MA/MPhil Studentship, an award of £32,000 designed to support the fees and living costs of an individual undertaking an MA, and our Doctoral Scholarship, an award of £32,000 a year for three years, designed to support the fees and living costs of an individual undertaking a PhD.
We have also opened up our MA/MPhil Studentships and Doctoral Scholarships to internationally based students. Previously, these awards were only available to those who qualified for Home Fee status; however, now anyone can apply as long as they intend to take their course at a UK-based institution. The funding for these awards remains fixed at £32,000 for MA/MPhil Studentship and £32,000 a year for three years for the Doctoral Scholarship, so any individual who does not qualify for Home Fee status would have to ensure any excess costs are met from other sources.
Alongside our Fellowship,s we are also pleased to be able to offer our Research Support Grants, awards of up to £2,000, designed to support research travel costs, and our Event Support Grants, awards of up to £3,000 to support organisations in hosting events such as symposia, lectures and workshops.
