Photo Competition – Strong and Powerful

We recently announced that we would be featuring a photo competition every single day within our brand new Competitions category – maximising the opportunities you have to enter great contests and not to miss them.Today, we’re featuring The STRONG and POWERFUL online-juried competition. It is about something that has an impact on you such as expressions, architecture, bold colors, landscapes or some type of digital art. It is about your interpretation of this theme using any style of photography or digital art.

Submission deadline: November 4, 2013; Entry fee: $25 for first 5 images – $4 for each additional image up to 10. Over $2,000 in cash awards and prizes to top three finalists – Awards of Excellence also awarded.

The Judging Criteria used in this competition will be Creativity, Impact, Composition and Consistency with the theme.

Exhibitions Without Walls is a juried on-line competition that features winning works from photographers and digital artists, that includes graphic designers and illustrators.  Works that are appropriate for these juried online competitions include any art style where some type of photographic and/or digital process has been applied in creating the work. Our jurors for these competitions not only have an artistic background but also are involved with the “business of art.”

AWARDS OF EXCELLENCE – Seven Awards Of Excellence will be awarded

ELIGIBILITY: International / 18+

72 dpi – jpg file format, No more than 1000 pixels in either height or width.

COPYRIGHT: All photographers and digital artists retain the copyright to their images they submit.

USAGE RIGHTS: Any photographer or digital artist whose image is selected to be placed on EWW’s site and blog, gives EWW the right to use the image for the purpose of display only, as well as, for the 1st place’s electronic media kit, promotional press releases, other promotional pieces and the EWW archives for 12 months. After the initial 12 month period, photographer(s) or digital artist(s) will have to give written permission in order for EWW to continue the archive of their images. There will be no compensation for the granting the above listed rights and EWW has no further interest in the photographers’ or digital artists’ images. All inquiries about purchasing the work will be referred directly to the artist. The images and artist statement/bio of artists who are not selected for awards will be permanently deleted from our submissions library after announcement of results of competition.

Joanne Carter is a British photographer, photography journalist, editor and curator and the founder and editorial director of TheAppWhisperer.com, an independent international photography publication established in 2009.Her journalism, criticism and commentary have appeared in The Times, The Sunday Times, The Guardian, Financial Times, BBC, Vogue Italia, LensCulture, Popular Photography, Android Magazine, NikonPro, DPReview, Which Digital Camera and Which Camera. She has lectured internationally on photography and mobile art, served as a juror for international photography awards, and exhibited her own photographic work across the UK, Europe, South Korea and the United States.Alongside her editorial work, Joanne's photographic and postgraduate research explores death, grief, memory, representation and social inequality through contemporary photography, participatory practice and visual research methods, with the longer-term aim of developing this work through doctoral research.Through TheAppWhisperer, she continues to publish independent photography journalism spanning contemporary photographic practice, mobile imaging, photographic apps, computational photography and emerging imaging technologies.Joanne is available for editorial commissions, photography projects, judging, curatorial work, speaking engagements, consultancy and selected collaborations.
