    Mobile Photography & Art Showcase – 13 February 2022

    2022-02-13 / Comments Off on Mobile Photography & Art Showcase – 13 February 2022

‘Jane Austen, Daphne Du Maurier, the Brontës and Beatrix Potter all found liberation from the strictures of society and the freedom to express themselves (and indeed be themselves) in the British countryside’, says Mariella Frostrup who has a new series on More4 (if you’re in the UK) entitled ‘Britains Novel Landscapes’. Austen was not all prissy manners and corsets, she wrote her books during the Napoleonic wars and Hampshire, where she lived, was packed with soliders. When we choose to think of her as a war novelist we begin a fascinating re-evaluation of her words. Those balls in vast mansions were not all landed gentry fun, they were transactional business…

    Mobile Photography & Art – Flickr Group Showcase – 9 January 2022

I like to create targets for myself, that way, it helps me to keep on schedule and achieve what I intend to do. For so long, I’ve been reading one book a week and by doing so, it allows me to travel, throughout the world, there’s a sense of freedom I experience with each page turned. This week I’ve been reading a novel about economic migrancy, called The Road Home. A subject we’re all aware of but so often ignore. The author Rose Tremain tackles the issues brilliantly. The main character, Lev is 42 and has left his Russian home following the recent death of his beloved wife from leukemia…

    Mobile Photography/Art Showcase – 1 August 2021

    2021-08-01 / Comments Off on Mobile Photography/Art Showcase – 1 August 2021

Mobile Photography and Art is about, among other things, the interconnectedness of our lives, about what we choose to see and ignore as we move through our own worlds, about the power of small acts of decency. Our shared vision is so vivid and multilayered enabling what we produce to become something more than remarkable. The real joy in this weeks Mobile Photography and Art Flickr Group Showcase, is the relentlessly compelling and extraordinary portrayal of lasting beauty. I have tried to create an atmosphere offering privileged access into multiple spheres of existence, discovering the secret languages of each work of art, conferring dignity and consequence with each image and…

    Mobile Photography/Art Showcase – 25 July 2021

    2021-07-25 / Comments Off on Mobile Photography/Art Showcase – 25 July 2021

To many artists in this weeks Mobile Photography & Art Showcase, and beyond, mobile art is a coping mechanism. Creating art allows us to live alternative lives, offering escapism when reality becomes too unwelcome. Olivia Laing, (probably my favourite author) said in ‘The Lonely City: Adventures in the Art of Being Alone (possibly my all time favourite book), “sometimes, all you need is permission to feel. Sometimes, what causes the most pain is actually the attempt to resist feeling, or the shame that grows up like thorns around it.” This weeks showcase should be recognised as own emblem, forever moving forward whilst simultaneously sensing time’s passage. I have tried to…
