Kristen R Ghodsee has published a thoroughly researched exploration proclaiming that capitalism is bad for women.  She argues, adopting some ideas from socialism  ‘women will have better lives’ and of course, this includes sex. Ghodsee, an acclaimed ethnographer and professor of Russian and East European Studies, spent years researching what happened to women in countries that transitioned from state socialism to capitalism.     I love literature almost as much as I love visual art and this week I’ve been indulging in ‘The Letters of Sylvia Plath: Volume II, 1956-1963, edited by Peter K Steinberg and Karen Kukil. The relationship between Ted Huges and Sylvia Plath as we know, was astonishing in its intensity and Plath’s letters, deeply private.
