Apple Announces Over 1 Million Downloads In Mac App Store After Day 1

Apple have just announced that users have downloaded over 1 million apps from the Mac App Store since its launch yesterday. Steve Jobs was/is understandably delighted and said "we’re amazed at the incredible response the Mac App Store is getting, the developers have done a great job bring apps to the store and users are loving how easy and fun the Mac App Store is". That’s certainly true for us too, the Mac App Store is really a delight to navigate, especially as many users are, used to the iTunes store.

There are 21 genre of app in the Mac App Store, these include Business, Developer Tools, Education, Entertainment, Finance, Games, Graphics and Design, Health and Fitness, Lifestyle, Medical, Music, News, Photography, Productivity, Reference, Social Networking, Sports, Travel, Utilities, Video and Weather.

The Mac App Store is available for Snow Leopard users through the Software Update as part of Mac OS X 10.6.6.

70% Sales Revenue

Mac developers keep 70% of the sales revenue, after setting their own prices for the apps. Mac developers are not charged for free apps and do not have to pay hosting, marketing or credit card fees.
