Well, possibly another rumor, no scrap that, definitely a rumor but one that we really hope does become true. cnet are reporting today that ‘Korean news site ETnews says Apple will use Liquid metal technology for the next iPhone, which the outlet boldly claims will be unveiled at Apple’s annual worldwide developers conference’. As we all know the WWDC usually takes place in June and other than last year, is the place where Apple announce their new iPhone’s.
This is supposedly instead of their current Gorilla glass. According to LiquidMetal Technolgies, Liquidmetal is a metallic glass, it also has 2-3 times the strength and hardness of both stainless steel and titanium yet can be molded like plastic into complex shapes and parts.
There are many rumors circulating that Apple are planning on using more metal in their iPhones, with an apparent return to aluminum backs on the cards too.
As always, we’ll have to wait and see but wouldn’t it be fantastic!
