Top 5 Apps For iPhone Photography – Photo App Lounge – With Janine Graf

Welcome to our new Photo App Lounge section of theappwhisperer.com. This is a very small area on our site where we ask highly accomplished iPhone photographers what their top five photo apps are and why.
Kicking us off today is Janine Graf. We previously interviewed Janine for our A Day In The Life Of Series, see here and also our Extension Of The I series, see here. Janine is a unique iPhone photographer and not just because she prefers to edit her images in the bath but because her images appear to capture the unseen, she has an incredible eye and an incredible cross-processing ability.

Janine’s love of photography developed while using a DSLR and macro lens, but it was after turning to her iPhone that her true passion fully developed. Janine’s images have been exhibited in art galleries across the US and in London, and will be part of an upcoming juried exhibit at the IX Gallery in Toronto, Canada.

We caught up with Janine in between shoots and asked her what her top five photo apps are, this is what she said…

Number 1 – ScratchCam

Hands down my favorite app for all things texture and color.  The combinations you can come up with seem endless and if you hit one you love, you have the ability to save it as a preset.   The adjuster/slider bar that allows  you to pull back on some texture or color is a great feature that I use a lot.  I think this app is brilliant!

Number 2 – King Camera

This app has pretty much everything under one roof:  cropping, white balance, exposure and contrasts, textures, light leaks, you name it.  There are some pretty fun presets you can select from or you can go manual, either way you pretty much can’t go wrong with this app.  Saves in super high res too!

Number 3 – Camera+

I love how simple and intuitive this app is.  Wonderful selection of filters and films to choose from.  I prefer to shoot from within this app instead of the native iPhone camera as I find the select focus feature really fantastic.

Number 4 – Squaready

It’s only a cropping tool, but if you’re a fan of the square, this app is tops!  Have an unwanted border in a Hipstamatic shot?  No worries, load it into Squaready and the problem is solved.  This app allows you to save your images in either JPG or PNG format, which I think is great!

Number 5 – Juxtaposer

I do not use this app as often as I’d like, but when I need to add elements from different images into one, this is my app of choice.   I love the fact you can save your masked off image as a stamp to use in future compositions.  I use this feature a lot and really appreciate it.
