Mobile Masters Second Edition, The PROOF Show will be available May 3rd, 2014
The Mobile Masters Second Edition has already been approved by Apple and will be available in iTunes on Saturday May 3, 2014. It will be free for the first two days, and then revert to its retail price of $4.99/£2.99. We have a teaser video for you to check out in the meantime – here’s the link for that.
The Mobile Masters Second Edition will allow you to explore over 50 immersive interactive portfolios with over 300 images from some of the best Mobile Photographers from around the world. Hear them speak about their creative vision and how they created each image in their PROOF Portfolio. Each artist also shares links to their favorite artists and resources. You can even follow them on Facebook or email them directly right from the ebook! In addition see video updates on some of last years Mobile Masters and uncover many resources and tutorials to improve your work and get a complete understanding of the current state of the mobile arts.
The selection of artist for this new edition was by a notable jury of 3 traditional Fine artist and 3 Mobile Artist. Eric Shiner, Director The Warhol Museum, Stephen Perloff, Founder of the oldest fine art photo journal The Photo Review, Donna Ferrato, Photojournalist, Koci Hernandez, Visual Storyteller and Mobile Master, Karen Divine Fine Arts Photographer and Mobile Master and Dan Marcolina, Founder of The Mobile Masters.
By employing a balance of world class fine arts and mobile photography judges, the goal of this exhibit was to objectively identify and showcase the world’s top artists who are breaking new ground in mobile image discovery and invention. To PROVE the unique results from the form and function of mobile photography has crossed the threshold of acceptability and is a distinctive new movement in the history of the art form. Mobile Masters created by Dan Marcolina is a 2 year old venture to reveal the best art and tech of this new underground mobile photo movement. This year along with another epic Macworld workshop we decided to do an open call for entries into the eBook. This created a way to gather a more diverse and undiscovered group of work. Dan says “For me it was less of a contest and more of a collection and curation process with a minimal fee to support the creation of this show and folio.”
Joanne Carter
Joanne Carter is a British photographer, photography journalist, editor and curator and the founder and editorial director of TheAppWhisperer.com, an independent international photography publication established in 2009.Her journalism, criticism and commentary have appeared in The Times, The Sunday Times, The Guardian, Financial Times, BBC, Vogue Italia, LensCulture, Popular Photography, Android Magazine, NikonPro, DPReview, Which Digital Camera and Which Camera. She has lectured internationally on photography and mobile art, served as a juror for international photography awards, and exhibited her own photographic work across the UK, Europe, South Korea and the United States.Alongside her editorial work, Joanne's photographic and postgraduate research explores death, grief, memory, representation and social inequality through contemporary photography, participatory practice and visual research methods, with the longer-term aim of developing this work through doctoral research.Through TheAppWhisperer, she continues to publish independent photography journalism spanning contemporary photographic practice, mobile imaging, photographic apps, computational photography and emerging imaging technologies.Joanne is available for editorial commissions, photography projects, judging, curatorial work, speaking engagements, consultancy and selected collaborations.
