Adobe Illustrator on iPad Preview
For more than 30 years, Adobe Illustrator has been the leading illustration app. Adobe previewed Illustrator’s future with a reimagined touch-based app that brings the precision and versatility of the desktop experience to the tablet at #AdobeMAX. Designed with a more intuitive interface, the iPad update will make it possible for users to work with the same documents across devices, and have seamless access to Adobe Stock, Adobe Fonts and all Creative Cloud Libraries.
You’ll notice with the latest release accelerated performance and stability. Effects like drop shadows and gaussian blurs renders faster. Adobe have rearchitected Illustrator under the hood, so that large, complex files with multiple artboards save more than 2x faster.
Adobe have also included the top requests from users. With spell check type now have the option to turn on indicators to alert you of spelling errors as you type. If you design with paths, Adobe also updated the Path Simplification tool so it removes unnecessary anchor points efficiently while maintaining the paths’ integrity.
In addition Adobe announced that Illustrator is coming to the iPad in 2020. You will soon be able to design on the iPad with the tools you know and love. You’ll also experience completely new ways of creative expression never seen before.

Joanne Carter is a British photographer, photography journalist, editor and curator and the founder and editorial director of TheAppWhisperer.com, an independent international photography publication established in 2009.Her journalism, criticism and commentary have appeared in The Times, The Sunday Times, The Guardian, Financial Times, BBC, Vogue Italia, LensCulture, Popular Photography, Android Magazine, NikonPro, DPReview, Which Digital Camera and Which Camera.
