Top 10 HDR iPhoneography Apps
HDR iPhoneography is one of the most exciting areas for mobile photographers. We have put together the top 10 HDR iPhoneography apps that you should check out, this is a definitive list based on sales and feedback critique. There are plenty of excellent apps that incorporate HDR within them, the likes of Camera+ is an excellent example. In this instance we only wanted to seek out dedicated HDR apps to gain a true overview of the marketplace.
All these apps are worth checking out but certainly if you’re only looking for one look no further than TrueHDR or Pro HDR, these are proven apps that have stood the test of time. But this is too much of an exciting area to not try the new apps on the block and there are some excellent ones.

TrueHDR

Simply HDR

Bracket Mode
Quite an undiscovered app in the app store but once found most users have found this app to be quite a gem. The reason it’s hard to find is basically due to the name. Most iOS photo app users are not completely au fait with photograhic terms and literally search for a specific feature they have heard of. So, for example if they are looking for an HDR app they will search for HDR and do not relate that term to bracketing, a name change would bring more sales for this developer.

Flare
Flare allows you to shoot video in HDR mode and it’s very impressive. This is our only HDR video app in this selection. This app performs real-time shadow enhancement and gives a realistic HDR look.
HDR Foto
Although not terribly well received when first released, this app has now been updated and is going free for a while. It’s definitely worth a download as it now seems to be operating a lot better, previously users complained of constant crashing.
Worth trying out..
REXiG HDR Camera
Newest of the HDR apps in the appstore. REXiG is gaining rave reviews check it out to find out why.
In general, the HDR composite will require multiple Photos. In this application REXiG can represent a high dynamic range by restoring information from the darker and bright portions. When information in a dark part and a bright part is completely lost this in turn will not get good result. Also, Since the noise tends to brighten the dark areas, noise reduction will be very useful.

Dynamic Light
Similiar to REXiG this app only uses one image to create an ‘HDR’ image. Includes additional filter effects too. The HDR look works best on landscape and outdoor pictures especially with cloudy skies and lot of textures. This also minimizes the camera noise. Large flat surfaces without a texture are not a good match for this effect, nor are portrait photos, unless you are after particular effect.

HDR Effect Pro (or Effects–you spell it both ways) does not seem to be available any more, at least not by that name. It might be useful to show the app’s icon so we can verify we are looking at the exact same app you are referring to. REXiG HDR Camera is now called A HDR, for example, and maybe HDR Effect Pro has a different name too.

Found it… HDR Effects Pro was by Zed Apps LLC, but seems to be unavailable in the App Store now.
