Zen Brush – Our Daily App Giveaway!

Last week following publication of our comprehensive Mobile Photography New Year Resolutions from Around the World – Part 1 and Part 2 (click for links), we were enthralled to read a discussion regarding the app Zen Brush which emerged when Nettie Edwards (Lumilyon) mentioned within her section in Part 2 that she will ‘further reconnect my body and brain, I’m going to try to get back into the habit of sketching once a day: this could be on the back of envelopes or till receipts, or on my  iPhone and iPad (I especially love the simplicity of the iPhone app Zen Brush)’. MaryJane Sarvis downloaded the app immediately based on Nettie’s recommendation and we thought we would reach out to the developers in Japan to see if they would share some promotional codes with us for our readers.

Needless to say, they were delighted too and complimented me highly on the content of the site, which was great to hear. They have given us some codes for Zen Brush and also for Zen Brush Artbook – another of their titles that we will be giving away tomorrow.

They also provided some additional information regarding Art Book that I would like to share with you, it’s very interesting. This is what they said,

‘We originally released the app following the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami. As a Japanese company located in the city of Sendai, we were right in the middle of this disaster (fortunately, the tsunami did not reach us) and felt that we should do something to help in the recovery.

This is how we came up with the idea of creating an app collecting images and messages of support to the victims of the disaster and created using Zen Brush. This app could act as a channel through which people from all over the world could send their images and messages of sympathy and support to the people affected by the events. The full amount of the profits made from selling the app were and are still passed on to the Red Cross Society.

That’s really quite something, what an incredible background story, we have included a video demonstration of Zen Brush to help you get started. If you would like to be in with a chance of receiving a free promo code for Zen Brush join our ever expanding Twitter followers and Facebook fans, RETWEET THIS POST and send a reply to the bottom of this page telling us what you love most about theappwhisperer.com, if you’re successful we will send you a code to your email address.

I heard of ZEN Brush from Jack Davis on Creative Live several months ago. I check almost daily for a price drop on this app.
Many moons ago, I had a Japanese friend that could do Japanese calligraphy. For me it was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen a human do. It is sort of a ballet between the artist, the ink, the brush and the paper. Although it takes many, many years of practice to do what he could do, regardless I would love to try this app out.
As to the website theappWhisperer, this is the place to go to for mobile photographers interested in learning every aspect that comes with this technology. Everything is here. It’s like going to the street market to buy fresh fruit. Always crisp, fresh and plump. And down it is my first place in the morning to check out the latest mobile photography news.
