Ten commission opportunities offered by FotoDocument with Photoworks

As you will be aware we are expanding at a rate of knots here at theappwhisperer.com to ensure that our readers are fully aware of as many opportunities as possible relating to their photography and art. One of our new areas will bring you details of creative grants and residencies available throughout the world for artists.

We previously mentioned Getty Images’ Creative Grants with an Additional Award of $20K for works that focus on enpowering women and girls, if you missed that please go here.

Today, we’d like to bring to your attention another wonderful photo opportunity. Photoworks are partnering FotoDocument and BioRegional to commission ten public space photo essays launching during Brighton Photo Biennial 2014 and to remain in situ for ten months.

Each of the ten essays will be themed on one of the principles of One Planet Living and works will be installed in a corresponding key public space in Brighton & Hove, UK.

Zero Waste – Waste House, University of Brighton (tbc)
Sustainable Transport – Brighton Railway Station
Sustainable Materials – Emmaus, Portslade
Local and Sustainable Food – Open Market, London Rd
Sustainable Water – Seafront
Land Use and Wildlife – Foredown Tower
Culture and Community – Dome, Café-Bar
Equity and Local Economy – The Amex Community Football Stadium (tbc)
Health and Happiness – Sussex County Cricket Ground
Zero Carbon – venue tbc

The exhibitions will collectively form an ‘arts story trail’ around the city and be accompanied by a map and literature to illustrate the route and significance.

Each selected photographer will receive a fee of £2.5k to include travel and subsistence. Further funds are available to cover printing and installation costs.

Joanne Carter is a British photography journalist, editor, curator, and the founder of *TheAppWhisperer.com*, one of the world’s leading platforms dedicated to mobile photography and art.
