Mobile Photography – TrueView Interview – ‘The Pregnant Moment’ with Lynette Sheppard from Hawaii, USA
One of the many things that I love, so so much about our TrueView Interview section within TheAppWhisperer.com is the feeling that I am personally having a conversation with the artist whom I have asked a question to.
This is one of the many good things about social media, the ability to get closer to all of you, even though we are separated by thousands of miles, in many cases. It is completely apparent in this new TrueView Interview with Lynette Sheppard when she considers her work within a story telling/narrative framework. My thoughts behind this, include an 18th century thesis, ‘Laocoon: An Essay on the Limits of Painting and Poetry‘, Gotthold Lessing argued that although painting could not communicate narrative in the sense of telling a story, it could imply drama by aspiring to capture the “pregnant moment”.
In photography, this idea thrives as the “decisive moment” first introduced by Henri Cartier-Bresson and his followers. Therefore, my question to a mobile artist we hugely admire, Lynette Sheppard [with the above in mind], is “how you build your image to express or allude to some sort of story. Do you plot, or not? How do you define it? And the result is tremendous.
Many artists are working on their videos right now and each video is as unique and individual as each artist. We are fully conscious and respectful that you are all capturing a part of yourself and sharing it with us and we love it. Thank you.
