Mobile Photography & Art – Showcase – 27 February 2022
This weeks mobile photography and art showcase is wholly dedicated to our dear friend, Teresita Alonso Garit, developer of the hugely popular mobile app, iColorama. She is currently trying desperately to escape Ukraine. Hopefully, many of you viewed our post from yesterday, with images Teresita has taken within Ukraine. If not, please go here. We have been in close contact with her throughout this war. The latest update I received from her was today at 8.30 am (GMT), she has nearly reached the safety of Poland but she cannot write to me until ‘we are safe 100%‘. Many of her family, as far as I know are still sheltering in…

Mobile Photography & Art – Flickr Group Showcase – 20 February 2022
“Everything was calm. The sun was shining. I was swimming in the deep. And then, when I surfaced twenty years later, I discovered there was a storm, a whirlpool, a blasting gale lifting the waves over my head. At first I wasn’t sure I’d make it back to the boat and then I realised I didn’t want to make it back to the boat. Chaos is supposed to be what we most fear but I have come to believe it might be what we most want. If we don’t believe in the future we are planning, the house we are mortgaged to, the person who sleeps by our side, it…

Mobile Photography/Art Showcase – 25 July 2021
To many artists in this weeks Mobile Photography & Art Showcase, and beyond, mobile art is a coping mechanism. Creating art allows us to live alternative lives, offering escapism when reality becomes too unwelcome. Olivia Laing, (probably my favourite author) said in ‘The Lonely City: Adventures in the Art of Being Alone (possibly my all time favourite book), “sometimes, all you need is permission to feel. Sometimes, what causes the most pain is actually the attempt to resist feeling, or the shame that grows up like thorns around it.” This weeks showcase should be recognised as own emblem, forever moving forward whilst simultaneously sensing time’s passage. I have tried to…

Mobile Photography/Art Showcase – 18 July 2021
We have a choice, to give ourselves permission to go whereever our thoughts take us and when we do that, we can feel the incredibly rush of creativity and excitement this exists within us all. My body, my choice, turn your fears into excitement, your anxieties into enthusiasm and your passion into energy. The artists in this weeks Showcase have done just that, this is a sumptuous, glorious portrayal of mobile photography and art, today. Each image is individually powerful and together they are extraordinary, rarely have I seen love of art so palpably expressed. Enjoy! If you would like your work to be considered for entry into our weekly…

Mobile Photography & Art Showcase – 13 June 2021
“Never say you know the last word about any human heart”, a quotation by Henry James from the rich tapestry of a book I am currently rereading, Any Human Heart by William Boyd. Art links all around us and we need to be able to tie it altogether, to make it whole. Human expression within this weeks mobile photography and art Flickr Group Showcase, speaks to us. Worldly wise, yet perilously fragile, many of these images demonstrate the agony and ecstasy of love and life well lived. This weeks showcase is a wholly humane romance and a worthy treat for all of us. Wishing you all a beautiful Sunday, we,…

“If you’re paying attention and making your own life as beautiful and rich and fun as it can be, you might just attract someone who’s doing the same thing, you can give up on tracking someone down with your butterfly net.” Words by Anne Lamott one of my favourite writers. Lamott has published 18 memoirs and novels, many about being a recovering alcoholic, single mother, perpetual worrier and late-in-life churchgoer. I’ve read many of her books, you knew that was coming, right? I read incessantly, there’s only one thing that frustrates me about reading and that is that I can’t write at the same time. One of the many things…
