And The Winner Is….Gail Davis UK Mum Wins $10,000 iTunes Card – Except She Didn’t Download The Winning App

Oh mums we love you, and Gail Davis certainly loves Apple now. She is now the proud ‘owner’ of a $10,000 iTunes card courtesy of Apple for downloading the 10 billionth app from the iTunes App Store. The funny thing is, she didn’t download it. In fact, that accolade goes to he daughters, who downloaded the free Paper Glider app on one wet and cold Saturday afternoon in the suburbs of London, Kent.

During an interview on Radio 4 Live Gail Davis admitted she didn’t actually download the app. ‘I have to confess it wasn’t me who downloaded it but my daughters’ she sad.

In fact when Gail received the phone call from Apple’s PR department she thought it was a prank call, luckily they phoned back after the initial shock and went through it again.

Phillip Schiller, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Product Marketing went on to say ‘with more than 10 billion apps downloaded in just two and half years, a staggering seven billions apps in the last year alone, the App Store has surpassed our wildest dreams’.
