iOS App Downloads Will Overtake iTunes Song Downloads By March 2011
As we know the Apple App Store is set to hit the 10 billionth downloaded app mark this month, that equates to 31 months to reach this point. By the same token it has taken 67 months for the iTunes store to reach the same number of downloaded songs. Going on these figures, Asymco has estimated that the App Store downloads will overtake the iTunes downloads by March 2011.
From the chart above it has been predicted that the app curve, (red), is really banking up, demonstrating it will over take the iTunes songs store shortly.
Chart demonstrating that apps have reached 10 billion downloads in less than half the time it took songs to do the same. Information also pulled out from this data shows that apps are running at above 30 million downloads per day and that figures is growing and the rate of the increase is increasing too. Now that’s incredible, isn’t it?
