Today, we are proud to publish our latest interview with highly imaginative and talented artist, Patty Larson. She has been working with her iPhone for many years and has exhibited her art in Europe, the United States and Latin America.

How would you introduce yourself to someone who doesn’t know your work?
I am Patricia Larson, proudly Mexican from the city of Monterrey, N.L., I started in digital art when I bought my first iPhone 5, all my works are a mixture of photography, editing and drawing using various apps. I have participated in many exhibitions in Europe, the United States and some Latin American countries.
What name do you use within social media and was this a conscious decision?
What kind of family did you grow up in?
In a close-knit family, I am the youngest of 6.
Did your childhood influence your ideas about creativity?
Yes, when I was a little girl I made comics, I had a small notebook, I only showed them to my mother. I still have it!
Did your parents support your creativity?
Yes.
When was the first time you knew you wanted to be an artist?
Until I turned 40 I discovered that I had a lot of creativity, so I decided to start and I loved it and could not stop creating.
What is creativity to you?
It is a way of expressing my ideas, desires, thoughts into a work. When I see a my work finished, sometimes only I can understand it. But it is something very gratifying for me.
What did you do before (if appropriate) becoming an artist?
I worked in a bank for many years, and currently I’m working in real estate administration.
Where are you most creative?
Full-time. I never stop creating.
What inspires you?
Many things, my children, my family, a good sunset, my beliefs, my dreams.
Who inspires you?
Many current artists and many Renaissance artists, photographers, I am a very visual person so I can sit for hours watching works from different artists and time periods.
Does your engagement on social media help you to plan your future projects?
Yes. It is a wonderful way to make yourself known in different parts of the world.
What does your average day look like?
From home to work, sometimes something routine, but what rescues me from routine is creating art work.
Is it your intention to ask questions or make the viewer question what they see?
Always, I love when people wonder why I did this! Referring to my art.
Is there humour in your work?
Yes, there is a lot of humor in what I do.
How important is failure in your work process? Do you incorporate it into your creative process?
Failure makes me try harder and give my best in my next work or project, so I think it is a very important process for every artist.
How do you deal with criticism?
I handle it with a bit of humor, not everybody can like my work, art is subjective. In tastes, genres are broken. Everyone will find the art that transmits something to them!
Has the Covid-19 pandemic influenced your creative life?
No, not at all, I’ve had more time to create.
Who dead or alive would you like to have dinner with?
With my parents, who passed away a couple of years ago, so they can explain to me how is the place where they are.
What is the best piece of advice that you’ve heard and still repeat to others?
As Above, So Below.
