Tighnabruaich collage artist opens up studio for Cowal arts and crafts trail
One of Scotland’s most exciting and innovative artists will be opening up his Tighnabruaich studio and sharing his craft during the forthcoming Cowal Open Studios arts and crafts trail which takes place from September 26th to 29th.
Gabor Horvath, who hails originally from Hungary, creates stunning collages from a range of recycled materials with his work in high demand from art enthusiasts across the globe.
“It’s great to be involved again in what is becoming one of Scotland’s biggest arts trails,” explained Gabor whose work forms a pivotal part of the current ‘Colourful World’ exhibition at Dunoon Burgh Hall which showcases the work of 40 artists from across the peninsula.
His work ‘Eyes of Joy’ forms the main promotional image for the exhibition with another large canvas entitled ‘Rosa’ included within the gallery space.
“The ‘Eyes of Joy’ collage portrait was made from many small pieces of magazine, all cut by hand. I always look for beauty and special expressions in different faces. We are all different people but, in our eyes, we can share stories and feelings,” Gabor explained.
A total of 57 artists will be taking part in the annual, four-day arts trail with 37 different venues opening up to the public, encompassing a wide variety of media.
“The event is really putting the Cowal arts scene on the map, and it’s easy to see why we have so many great artists and makers here when we’re surrounded by such magnificent scenery.
“I do enjoy playing host to the public in my studio and hope it inspires others to tap into their own creativity. We all have the potential to make great art!” added Gabor.
