Well, there are plenty of rumors flying around about what exactly Apple will announce at their impromptu Press Conference today – 07/16/10 – 10 am PT. Could it be the start of a massive recall? Compensation? Fix? What do you think?
Personally, I’m going to go with a fix – I can’t really see Apple recalling all the millions of iPhone 4’s out there at a cost of $1.5 billion, but that’s not to say it won’t or shouldn’t happen.
The external antenna issue has been for many a consistent and constant problem, despite being cutting edge in design, many have proved it is flawed and Apple have even appeared quite arrogant and dismissal in their approach to the problem.
At least now, they have announced this Press Conference and we will be covering the full event and can’t wait to find out exactly what it means for all of us. As far as compensation goes, don’t get your hopes up, I’m only thinking that Apple may go as far as giving out free bumpers but many have already purchased these at a cost of $29 and still have problems. The Bumper is actually rumored to only cost Apple $1 so represents the cheapest option for them but if they do have a faulty device on their hands shouldn’t they do the decent thing and recall the product?
Apple is already rapidly losing consumer confidence, they need to take charge of this situation and do the right thing before they see more than 4.2% wiped from their total value as their reputation as the death grip manufacturer starts to literally take hold.
