Apple Exporting from India to boost ‘Make In India’ Plan
Exports from India for Apple iPhones have already started to a few European markets. The Indian government are keen to promote their ‘Made in India’ plan and Apple are keen to ensure India becomes a main export hub. Wistron Corp are Apple’s India contract industry manufacturer who started assembling iPhones in India in 2016. They are now exporting Apple’s smartphones from their facility in Bengaluru. “iPhone 6s and iPhone 7 are being exported in quantities of under 100,000 units a month,” said Neil Shah, research director at Counterpoint Research, citing export data that the firm tracks. News – Video Of Foxconn Employees Building iPads
Business Insider today reminds us when Rob Schmitz, Reporter from the Radio Show Marketplace recently visited Foxconn in China, where Apple builds the iPads, amongst other things. As only the second Reporter ever to visit it’s quite a coop. Today, Schmitz has posted a short video report showing how the workers there put an iPad together. It’s short but sweet. Nightline To Broadcast From Apple’s Production Lines On February 21, 2012
AppleInsider are reporting that the television network ABC have announced plans to broadcast a special edition of "Nightline" next week after having gained unprecedented access to document the working conditions inside factories at some of Apple’s suppliers. AppleInsider explain that "Anchor Bill Weir received permission from Apple to visit factories in Shenzhen, China in preparation for the report, which will air on Feb. 21 at 11:35 p.m. Eastern on the ABC network. Foxconn Says ‘No Need For Overreaction’ To Steve Jobs’ Medical Leave
Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry Co), the largest manufacturer of electronics and computer components worldwide with up to 450,000 workers and of course manufacturers of products from Apple, Amazon, Cisco, HP, Dell, Nintendo, Nokia, Microsoft, Sony and Sony Ericsson have spoken out in relation to the controversy surrounding Jobs’ medical absence. In a report from DigiTimes, Foxconn acknowledged that Steve Jobs’ had taken medical leave and expressed that it was not the first time and since Apple, their major client, is ‘well organized’ they will not experience any operating issues simply ‘because of one person’s absence.’
