Apply to VSCO Voices 2019
We are pleased to actively promote VSCO Voices. In partnership with Access Ventures, VSCO Voices is a six month grant program that supports creators who empower marginalized communities in the US. This year, five individuals will receive $20,000 in funding to carry out their projects. In addition to financial support, each recipient will be paired with a mentor from the creative community to offer advice and encouragement throughout the process.

This year’s theme
The organisers are looking for project proposals that speak to this year’s theme of Style. Extending beyond the clothing we wear, style is voice, attitude, movement, hair, body art, expression. It’s who we are. It’s our story. And, it has the power to shift important cultural conversations.
How to apply
Apply to the grant program on the VSCO Voices website. As of today, the application process will remain open until February 18th, 2019 at 11:59pm PST. To qualify for the grant, you must live in the US, be at least 18, and have a VSCO profile.

Joanne Carter
Joanne Carter is a British photographer, photography journalist, editor and curator and the founder and editorial director of TheAppWhisperer.com, an independent international photography publication established in 2009.Her journalism, criticism and commentary have appeared in The Times, The Sunday Times, The Guardian, Financial Times, BBC, Vogue Italia, LensCulture, Popular Photography, Android Magazine, NikonPro, DPReview, Which Digital Camera and Which Camera. She has lectured internationally on photography and mobile art, served as a juror for international photography awards, and exhibited her own photographic work across the UK, Europe, South Korea and the United States.Alongside her editorial work, Joanne's photographic and postgraduate research explores death, grief, memory, representation and social inequality through contemporary photography, participatory practice and visual research methods, with the longer-term aim of developing this work through doctoral research.Through TheAppWhisperer, she continues to publish independent photography journalism spanning contemporary photographic practice, mobile imaging, photographic apps, computational photography and emerging imaging technologies.Joanne is available for editorial commissions, photography projects, judging, curatorial work, speaking engagements, consultancy and selected collaborations.
