WSJ quotes ‘one person familiar, said the fifth-generation iPhone would be a different form factor than those that are currently available’, well my bet it is something to do with the positioning of the antenna. So, although not massively surprising considering that Apple launch a new iPhone every year around May/June time.
What is also interesting though is the news that Apple are soon to start the production of a CDMA-compatible iPhone – meaning it will be suitable for the Verizon network and should be available early 2011, more below…
This news means Apple will be ending the exclusive deal they have currently had with AT&T since 2007, as Verizon Wireless, the biggest US carrier by subscribers, look set to enjoy the iPhone’s swelling popularity ranks. Apple is set to sell 40 million iPhones worldwide this year and they haven’t began mass producing it yet, that will happen by the end of this year.
