Welcome to our third Portrait of an Artist Showcase! This Showcase complements our Portrait of an Artist Column edited by Jennifer Bracewell. Every two weeks Jennifer will review and curate work that has been submitted to our dedicated Flickr group. In addition, to creating a showcase video which features a sampling of submitted work, we will also highlight a few images that have caught our attention… offering some thoughtful commentary about technique, composition and subject matter. Oh this weeks’ Flickr Group Showcase is so full of outstanding photography, it’s hard to believe that the bar can rise higher each and every week but it does! This week we lead with a very emotionally image by Mainstream withexplicitdreams / Ioannis Sidiropoulos full of anguish, this leads us to more highly-charged images in a similar vein; we then feel the power of Louise Fryer’s ‘Survival’ image as we move further into sensual and into street photography. We are utterly delighted to publish this weeks’ Flickr Group Showcase, so many of you have been completely inspired! Your work is exceptional, eminent and phenomenal. We lead this week with a wonderful image by lorenka61 – this image really struck a chord with me. It reminded me of Mya Angelou’s first book ‘I know why the caged bird sings’ and of course, unfortunately she passed on this week, so I thought this would make a wonderful lead image. We then pass onto a similar and excellent one by Roger Guetta and then move into some incredibly powerful portraiture, we walk into street and then wade into some wonderful seascapes…
