We are delighted to publish our first video showcase from our Portrait of an Artist group by new editor Maria Cecilia de São Thiago. She has selected the very best images from our dedicated Flickr Group as well as our Instagram Group. Please take a look at this video and the high level of work that continues to astound us. If you would like to be featured, in the future, please ensure you’re contributing your images to these groups so we can find and include your work. Huge thanks and many congratulations to M Cecilia Sao Thiago and to all she has included here. (foreword by Joanne Carter – TheAppWhisperer).

“It was during the 6th century BC that the first versions of circuses and this type of entertainment appeared. Gathering at the Circus Maximus in Rome, 150,000 people attended performances.

From the magician to the madman, from the little teacher to the strange neighbor, from the eccentric aunt to childhood best friend, from Mimico to the trapeze artist, almost everyone seems to me here.

They are all part of a movie in which only children are real characters, as if only they are actually able to understand what is around us”. Maria Cecilia de São Thiago.

I am delighted to announce M. Cecilia São Thiago has accepted my personal invitation to become our new Columnist and  Editor for our Portrait of an Artist Column. You may recall this position was previously held by Ile Mont who did an incredible job with the column for several years. She stepped back a while ago to spend more time on her other important projects. We miss her of course and thank her for all her work and support. Before Ile Mont, Jennifer Bracewell held this position, and also had to step back after several years for the same reason. However, we are very exicted to work closer with M. Cecilia São Thiago and know she will be a huge asset to our growing team here at TheAppWhisperer HQ.

São Thiago is an artist whom I greatly admire, her photographs are exquisite and allegorical in nature. Their vitality is instrumental in pulling the viewer into a very intimate world chronicling the self and beyond.  Mysticism and spirituality have long informed São Thiago’s practice and she is refreshingly transparent about her work.  She once told me, “my photos carry in each of them everything that I have learned, what I have lived, and what I have suffered”.

We have all brushed up against the sublime feeling of wonder, with sudden realisation that we do not know. Viewing Sao Thiago’s images enable us to recreate that emotion, allowing ourselves a bit of wonder, with the potential to forget what we think we know and to revel in the immediacy of the magic of her work, holding us close, as we unravel.

Influenced by two great Viennese modernists, Egon Schiele and Gustav Klimt, it’s fascinating to view the concision and extremely intelligent images that São Thiago creates. Each as luxurious, immediate and above all, tender to the next.

We also feature her work within our online print gallery and that can be viewed here.

To be featured within our Portrait of an Artist column, please ensure your images are submitted to our Flickr Group (here) and also tag your images within Instagram with #tawportraitofanartist. We also have a Facebook group and you can access and comment within that (here).

Please join me in welcoming dear M. Cecilia São Thiago to TheAppWhisperer family!

We are delighted to bring to you the seventh of this year’s series of interviews and the nineteenth of this fascinating series, within our Portrait of an Artist column entitled “Seeing through the eyes”. This is a section that has been created by our wonderful Portrait of an Artist Editor, Ile Mont. Mont has been inspired by the life and works of Carolyn Hall Young, as so many of us have. Young was the main contributor to our Portrait of an Artist Flickr pool and filled it with portraits of so many wonderful people, not only of herself. It is for this reason that Mont wanted to create this section, to enable us to view the artists style through their own eyes. At the end of each interview, Mont will keep Young’s tradition alive, with a portrait of herself, seen through the eyes of the artist. In this case, you will see that at the end of this interview there are portraits of Mont, seen through the eyes of Bob Weil, what a gift!

Please continue to post your mobile portraiture to our dedicated Flickr group or use this hashtag on Instagram #tawportraitofanartist, this way, Mont will search through these artists first to interview. (Foreword by Joanne Carter).

Mobile Photography & Art – Portrait of an Artist – Celebration of the Year 2018

From 2013 to 2016 Carolyn Hall Young found the inspiration for her art in the people that surrounded her and in the Mobile art community. Confined mainly to her bed she found a way to manifest the creativity and art in her soul and thus, stay into our hearts and worlds forever. It has been already two years without her but we will never stop celebrating her life and all the love and joy she spread while she was on this earth.

With her work as an inspiration Seeing Through The Eyes Of… is a series of interviews and collaborations for Joanne Carter’s Portrait Of an Artist section of TheAppWhisperer.com that intends to inspire the community to do more collaborative works and it is also my personal way to thank Carolyn for her strength and exemplary love for life.

Forever missed.

This are the 12 collaborations of this year. Thank you very much to the artists who participated with their unique vision and art:

Lorenka Campos
